Insomnia continues to be a wonderful thing. It's 2:30 in Flyover Land and I'm wide awake. I'm still headed to the UK next week, dammit, but will not have to get tested Sunday the 12th here, Wednesday the 15th in Oxford, UK, and then Monday the 20th either in Oxford or Loughborough in the UK. I joked with Claire that, by the time I actually get onto the plane next week, I'll be required to hang a dead albatross around my neck... Gonna try and go back to sleep. It's been a week of losing dear people too, with Don's passing and the loss of a college friend earlier. My mind is more that occupied with things.

maybe no "not"? Indeed. Insomnia does strange things to my grammar. ;P I have to test three times in a week, John. It's worth it. Claire needs to see her Daddy.

At least you didn't use double negatives (Anybody that doesn’t think that there wasn’t ... is ...), which seem to have caused a stir for someone else.
I gave up trying to parse that one.

Mt Semeru volcano erupted in Indonesia. The volcano is in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. When I was there we went to take sunrise pictures. We came in from the north, drove as far as possible and then, in the dark, climbed a long set of stairs to the lookout where we waited for sunrise. We were lucky, it was a perfectly clear day and we got some fantastic pictures. It looks like the volcanic eruption caused a lot of damage and destroyed some villages, tragic.

Good morning. It'll be 40s-70s here, still above normal but not as much as it has been.
Enjoy your day.

Cold (8 degrees) but sunny here. I note that in Grand Forks, where ePaul lives, it's MINUS-8, so I guess I shan't complain.

Very windy with stronger winds blowing in later. We have had our high temperature and the mercury is heading down to about 10. I may have to close the windows and turn on the furnace. Maybe.

A chilly 10 degrees here this morning, but it's a sunny 10. The 3 - 4 inches of snow has dropped from the long range forecast. Colorado mountains are as bare as I've seen this time of year.
Cheers

Single digits this AM but also sunny which changes everything. Edges of the lake skimming over.
If this was 1980 the kids would be skating and it would be covered with fish houses.

Supposed to be leaving for home today. But the weather may have other plans. Maui received between 6-10 inches of rain yesterday, with wind, flash flood warnings are in effect and driving to the airport is a unknown. I think we will try to get out today, and see if we can make it, if not we still have the condo until Friday, the rental car status is less certain. File under may you live to see interesting times.

We must have gotten close to 8" of snow. I blew the walks and driveway out yesterday evening. Winds howled all night and everything I blew on the north side was filled in with some 4' drifts present to top it off. I just got back from a 6 mile run down I-29 to Thompson (I29 connects Grand Forks to Fargo), and I saw 11 cars in the ditch.
