The UK isn't my country and its politics aren't mine but it'll be interesting to see what happens to Boris Johnson. Demanding that others obey restrictions that you feel free to ignore is not a good way to win friends and influence people. I know that there are other components to his problems but that seems to be the core of it. It's striking how often people in power wind up feeling bulletproof and doing dumb things as a result.

Didn't he drop all the restrictions in his country a couple weeks ago?

Johnson is still hanging on. There were a lot of flagrant abuses of lockdown rules, parties at 10 Downing Street among them. The police are investigating. The usual process for the removal of a party leader, the 'vote of no confidence' in parliament route, is quite strictly governed although Johnson will almost certainly exit * somehow or another before the next general election. The Tories have some leeway on the timing and nature of the exit. *ETA - I may be overstating. More a strong suspicion. A week is a long time in politics etc. FWIW, at the moment and I won't bore you with details of my doubtless shaky speculation, I think Foreign Secretary Liz Truss may beat the others quietly jockeying for the position of next leader. There are still some rules and restrictions, around SARS-COV-2/Covid and some of them vary by UK country. www.bbc.co.uk/news/explainers-52530518
