We had been having another long, mild, extended fall in northern MN, when an Alberta Clipper hit and brought wind, cold, snow and instant winter. The temp was 15 below the doughnut this morning and we had three inches of blowing snow on the ground. And the beer I had in the garage was frozen solid. And this was good stout ale, not some eunuchnized light brew.
Tonight we got hit by another clipper. Right now, at 9:49 PM, the wind is whipping and fresh snow is blowing. Another three to four inches is expected. Temps will drop below 0 again later tonight.
The dog is inside for the night. And I have put on an extra pair of socks.
I will survive.
More than survive. I will thaw my beer and drink it. And I will pee on the snow and laugh in the face of the cold wind.
Then I will turn and run quickly back into my warm house and settle the dog upon my cold feet. And maybe read for awhile.
Paul

How did you find that photo, Bill?
You are a Google master. I bow down before you.
Make that well off to the side of you, just in case.

Calling Todd, Calling Todd. Forget the fence on the Mexican Border, we need you to build a BIG fence across Iowa solid and 10 or 12 thousand feet high to keep that MN crud up there. You should at once apply for a government grant for the money needed and that should at least cover a new truck for you and provide real jobs for all those politicians wandering around your state.

I'm all over it, Doug. I can take a lot, but I cannot take frozen beer in the garage. It's cold, but not as cold as Epaul, but it will be. Those clippers have a nasty habit of vacationing in Iowa.

I was wondering about your snow up there. I heard you were getting a decent winter. Down here in the balmy heat pocket we're coasting along in eternal autumn. They called for snow yesterday, but I gave up believing them a long time ago.
I did run out to Fleet Farm and get a nice new winter coat, though.

40 degrees this morning.
You know, if your beer was in a refrigerator in the garage then the fridge would be a beer insulator.

Before it died, I used to say that I kept beer in the refrigerator on the back porch to keep it warm in winter.
