That is such a lovely piece. Such lovely playing. Such a wonderful sound. I'm intrigued by the guitar. For a small body that's a looooooong scale. The space between frets seems large too. weren't frets just strings wrapped around the neck back in those days?

Saw Segovia in about 1968 at the Academy of Music in Philly. Full house, no amplification. Everything about it left me awestruck.

Had a strange guitar in the shop yesterday for a consultation and inspection before the customer bought it, or not. A Martin 000C12-16E NYLON. This is a crossover guitar with a very long 26.4" scale, roughly 670mm Segovia scale. Crossover meaning non classical guitar standards. 1 7/8"( 47.5mm) nut, radiused fingerboard and cutaway. There are lots of crossover guitars out there theses days but in 26.4" scale is unique. Stock strings are Martin Magnifico M165 strings, like Aquila Nygut.

So, did you tell him to buy it?

So, did you tell him to buy it? No, I just did an evaluation and some minor adjustment to help him decide. He returned it and is buying the same model from Willie's.

At 670mm it would make a good candidate for a baritone conversion. This set runs under $10. Lose the 1st string and string it up B to B. Totally new muse for tunes you already know. Tune it C to C and you are in Leo Kottke land. With that long of scale you might get away with A to A, maybe. EDIT: You need at least a 650mm scale, roughly 25.5". Any shorter and you'll have serious intonation problems that can't be compensated for.

I want to get a 14 fret nylon. I understand Cordoba makes them. Not sure who else does.

For import lower priced stuff. Cordoba, Alvarez, Ovation, Yamaha and Breedlove. Not sure all of them are 14 fret.

I was not looking for a nylon string when I acquired the Cordoba, but when I played it in the store was so impressed I had to buy it. Talk about bang for the buck!! Play it every day after supper.

I want to get a 14 fret nylon. I understand Cordoba makes them. Not sure who else does. I had a Breedlove nylon for a while and loved it; sold it for a 1947 0-18 (oh, the guitars I should never have sold). Back then a 1 3/4" nut was available - too narrow for nylon; they are all 1 7/8" now. I like the Breedlove body shape and 14 fret access. Mine did not have a cutaway.

I have a Cordoba C-10 that I like & it is a 12 fretter. Cordoba makes the Fusion 14 which is a crossover model with 1 7/8 nut and 14 frets clear of the body. There are some 7 string models out there with 14 frets but I don’t know of any other than the Cordoba Fusion 14.

LOL The one I evaluated was a bit buzzy and misadjusted. I did the rod and raised the too low action but it still had some high frets. This is the problem with Box Sellers even though they claim it was set up. Being stored under improper warehouse conditions, unboxed and hastily set up by a under trained tech before shipping doesn't work. Some sellers don't even bother to unbox and inspect anything before shipping it. It goes out in the unopened box it came in.
