If you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Remember me to one who lives there Oh she once was a true love of mine See for me if her hair's hanging down It curls and falls all down her breast See for me that her hair's hanging down That's the way I remember her best If you go when the snowflakes falls When the rivers freeze and summer ends Please see for me if she's wearing a coat so warm To keep her from the howlin' winds If you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Please say "hello" to the one who lives there Oh she was once a true love of mine If you're travelin' in the north country fair Where the winds hit heavy on the borderline Remember me to one who lives there Oh she once was a true love of mine A true love of mine A true love of mine True love of mine A true love of mine A true love of mine She was once a true love of mine

There is. They're using the same strings as when you heard them the last time.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band just released a new album that is entirely Bob Dylan covers. It is quite good. I've warmed up to Bobby D over the years, although I nearly always prefer to hear his songs sung by someone other than him. Gordon Lightfoot, one of my all-time heroes, has a nice cover of "Ring Them Bells." I didn’t realize there still was a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Oh yeah, they're still out there. The band is remarkably intact. Jeff Hannah's son has joined the band, but Jimmy Ibbotson has left it. I saw them just a bit before the pandemic hit, and they still put on a great show. Here's one from the Dylan album, with special guests Larkin Poe:

I grew up thinking that was a Joan Baez song. I think I heard it every Saturday morning for about 2 years while mom cleaned house.

There are presently 297 songs in my "favorites" playlist. I'm happy to say there's not a single Dylan song in there. (Don't tell Ducktrapper). Dylan probably doesn’t have any of yours in his playlist either. Mike

I never really did a deep dive on Dylan. Because of this thread I decided to download a greatest hits compilation and am listening to it now at the office. Pretty undeniable body of work and a constant stream of "oh yeah he did that one too. Just the first four cuts on this album are a career for most singer song writers

If you want to be pickey, this is the way the song goes. And yet, where are the herbs? The herbs are evidently a nineteenth century addition to Child ballad #2, The Elfin Knight. Bob Dylan evidently learned his snippet from Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger. Simon and Garfunkel learned theirs from Martin Carthy. Both the Simon and Carthy songs were recorded long after Dylon’s recording of Girl …Wikipedia has this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarborough_Fair_(ballad)I’m guessing Mudcat has pages and pages of useful discussion on this.

I've never been a fan of him as a performer, never owned one of his records. Saw him a few years ago and left about halfway through the show. Meh.
That said I think he's one of the great songwriters of the 20th century.
