Good morning. August is our rainiest month and there's a chance of showers every day for as long as the forecast runs. I'll attend a Zoom social meeting at 8:00 and then a Zoom meeting with our new financial advisers at 10:00. That's enough busy-ness for me.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning.
I'm sitting in my recliner at the cabin this morning, last night the fall I took when the steel fence post broke caught up with me. When I went to bed last night my neck and back were really sore. I did go to sleep but got up at 4:00 am. I took a couple Advil, sat, walked, stood and laid down on the sofa and eventually dozed off for about an hour.
I felt pretty good when I woke up, and since my plan for today was going to the cabin, that is what I did. It'll be a very quiet day here. Saw 4 deer in my driveway. I'll go to the pizza place for dinner tonight.

Wedding chores are getting into high gear. W-Day is Saturday, rehearsal and dinner Friday. Lot's and lot's of details and stuff. A quick trip to Vegas sure would have had its good points.

We had the best summer outdoor gig ever last night. Hospice butterfly release in city park. Temps 70s, low humidity, nice gentle breeze, and everyone played great. It’s a powerful and well attended event. Everyone there has either lost someone dear to them and benefited from hospice services or is a hospice provider or physician/nurse. It’s an honor to play for. Our bass player has an EV tower system and we miced everything into that as a stage monitor and then ran a line out into my old analogue PA with big speakers to fill the park. It worked really well. Below is the trumpet player’s wife gently waking up a recently thawed butterfly.

Getting ready for a month long road trip to Williamsburg VA. 5 days to get there, two weeks in a condo at Kingsmill resort, then on the way back visit with my sisters in Asheville and Marietta.

I just wake up. I slept for eight hours.
I try to be positive when I wake up that's the first thing that I think about the world and my friends
I checked out the old news - Rooney Report
Last Wednesday I did some piano - Bach, Chopin, Satie, Schumann, Lean on Me, and a smidge Beethoven.
I watched a old movie - Woman in Gold 2015 - Sixty years after fleeing Vienna, Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren), an elderly Jewish woman, attempts to reclaim family possessions that were seized by the Nazis -
The next thing...... how about enjoy your days?

Today, I have exceeded my father’s age. Dad died in December, thirty-one years ago, but I have now lived longer than he. Not significant, really, but it gives one pause.

My father died one month shy of 60, so I long ago passed that. It does give one pause, proceeding into uncharted water. I have no model of my father this old.

I've outlived my father's lifespan by 17 years and my grandfather's by six years. In November I'll reach the age when my brother died. Bad habits and all, I now only trail one cousin in longevity among Peters men. I never expected to still be here at this age.

It will be a challenge for me to surpass either of my parents. Having had a number of episodes where I almost met my maker, it will be a minor miracle if I do surpass them. Mom was 88 and Dad was 83.

I have at least 28 years to catch up with Dad, but as he continues to add years to his current total it will be a thankfully long while before I get close.
And congratulations, I think, on surpassing your father, Mark. Stick around for a lot longer.

Dad passed at 75. He's the benchmark. I figure I'll probably go about that time, too.
Mom was just here for my daughter's wedding and may be back in the Fall if my boy gets married (rumored from his fiance) but she's currently 85 and still kicking. Clearly I didn't get the stout Norwegian genetics.
