I really hate them. . . . , well not hate, but am annoyed. Let me explain:
Case 1. I play pickleball at a local park. Sometimes there are 40 people or more there. Everyone puts their "bag" against the fence. I have a water bottle. And I use a small towel for sweat between matches. It's a small paved area outside the courts. I towel off and drop my towel on the grass in an area close by where no one stands. I go out and play the next match. I walk off the court and look for my towel. It's not where I left it. I have to hunt around. And some do-gooder has picked it up and hung it on a bench near by. WHY ?
Case 2. I was at a music party on Saturday. Outdoor backyard affair. Great fun. Lotsa liquor and song. At one point my head was hot in my hat, so I took the hat off and placed it next to me on the deck by the railing out of everyone's way. at the end of the night I pick up my guitar gear and go hunting for my hat. It's gone. Some do-gooder decided to move it somewhere. I tell the host my hat is somewhere. he texts me today saying he found it in the house. So now my hat is 20 miles away and I have to arrange to meet him sometime to retrieve it.
Case 3. I used to do video recording for the church every Sunday. I used my iPhone. I have a nice little microphone that plugs into the phone for stereo sound. It has a small case. Plus the microphone only fits the iphone when the phone case is off. So every week I get on a step stool and mount the phone and the microphone in a bracket I built up high. I leave the phone case and the microphone case right below it on a window sill. One day after the service I go to pick up my stuff, and the cases are gone. Someone do-gooder (who knows I do video recording) saw the cases and decided to turn them into the church office as lost items. I had to hunt them down before the office was locked up for the afternoon.
Why do people feel like they have to mess with things they find. I mean, if the person who left them goes looking for them, where are they going to look first? It ain't gonna be where some do-gooder arbitrarily decides to move them to.
