David, you need to be congratulated for being the only person in the world who knows what a Gravenstein apple is. For some reason Gravensteins were common around the area I grew up. If you ever see apple cider or apple sauce made from Gravensteins, grab it. They show up around here once in a great while, and are delicious. My son got us an Espalier apple tree a few years ago. From one root stock there are 6 varieties of apples grafted on. The branches for Yellow Transparent, Honey Crisp, Fuji, Gala, and Yellow Delicious have all produced apples, and they are all good, but my favorite has failed to even send out a blossom.
