I had time to take my guitar to Cedar Falls today to have some wiring for the pickup replaced by some longer wires Marty sent. I will not go into detail, but the guy did a cool thing when he loosened the strings to be able to reach the stuff inside the guitar. I asked if I could take a picture, he said yes, and that he learned this trick watching a Taylor video.

That’s cool. I always use a capo to hold the stings when I have to remove them from the bridge to work inside the box but using the capo to hold them out of the way is a great idea.
All I have are Shubbs and I hate Kysers but damn that looks like it works great.

I have an old elastic Dunlop capo I use for holding loose strings. I also have a way of coiling the strings (no capo) around the tuners but would need to take photos to show how to do it. I have one of my thingys that holds the strings to either side of the neck. Usually used on classical guitars so I can work on the nut. It's a pain to remove the strings from the bridge on classicals.

I have been trying to reduce the spring tension on my Kyser capo. I have it tied up, fully open, hoping to get the spring to relax, but it is not working. Maybe heating it would work?

Thanks Dub. Mordor, here I come!
I have taken Marty's advice and usually avoid using a Keyser. Like many of us on this board, I have one or more of the styles you have pictured.

There are also these clamps, although they might not be what you are talking about.

I named my Kyser "Jed Clampitt".

My other Kyser is "Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa".

The key is to put it on your guitar neck and then take a blow torch to the capo. The heat will relax the spring and give a nice patina to the guitar.

My "got to." I've even cut one down to be a partial capo.

A good substitute for a Kyser is a set of Ace Hardware vise grip pliers. The vise grips do less damage to your guitar.

A lot of folks don’t use the Kyser as an actual capo for reasons mentioned but keep one or two clamped to their headstock just for the aesthetic.

My "got to." I've even cut one down to be a partial capo. I have two or three of these. I shortened at least one of them so it isn’t wider then than my Tele’s neck at the fifth fret, just so it won’t stick out and get in the way.

I like those Steinberg capos, too, but I have come to really like cradle-style capos.
