We’ve all become accustomed to seeing USPS junk mail show up looking very much like it was addressed by hand. The fonts either mimic longhand or look as though they were hastily printed by hand with a felt-tip pen. We see this so often we’re very comfortable dropping them directly into the paper shredder unopened. Looking today at my USPS Informed Delivery email, I see we’re to receive a piece of mail addressed as follows. The interesting thing, to me at least, is that the font used to mimic hand printing doesn’t always use the same version of the characters. I don’t recall seeing that before.

If I had a fireplace or wood burning stove I could heat my house for the winter with the catalogs and Medicare brochures I get in October and November.

not to mention the "stamps" for standard mail. Some are pretty convincing. You have to look closely to see the "presorted standard" to know that it's not first class mail.

I had also noticed that different versions of the same character and kinda wondered how one would program that.

Hey Mark, did Joy get those mayocoba beans I mailed her? I hate to put anyone's name on a letter or package anymore as many prefer anonymity, so I addressed it Valued Walgreens Customer. Please let me know if she got it. I can always send more if she didn't.

Please send more.

If we didn’t get mail, we wouldn’t have much to recycle.

Early in his campaign, a certain presidential candidate's mailings included postage paid return envelopes for donations. It was a rather handy solution to my junk mail problem.

Early in his campaign, a certain presidential candidate's mailings included postage paid return envelopes for donations. It was a rather handy solution to my junk mail problem. In his book titled Steal This Book, Abbie Hoffman recommended pasting those PP envelopes to bricks and dropping them in a mail box.
