Watching the mail truck arrive was interesting. He got stuck at every mailbox. Going out to get the mail was painful.

Even down here in Alabama, the temp is in the 20s with wind chills down close to 0. We will get below-zero wind chills tonight. I know it doesn't compare to the cold temps most of y'all get, but I think it qualifies as cold. Lots of family around at the moment, so all is well. One thing I discovered living in San Jose was that because it doesn't get cold like it does in the Midwest, the construction is insulated accordingly. So when it did get cold, it really got cold inside.

Well, my sister and I have conferred, and we agree that our planned gathering in Eau Claire on Sunday is just not worth the hassle and risk for me. So my plan for Christmas Day is to declare myself Jewish and head to a Chinese restaurant, probably Pagoda here in Roseville, where they even have take-out dim sum, such a concept!

We, too, have abandoned our travel plans and will enjoy that rare treat, Christmas alone together.

Alexa just told me it’s 5 months until summer. Ask her for spring, which I would settle for. I just returned from two essential errands and am glad, glad, glad all over to be home and warm again. Chomping down on that Culver's Reuben I was lusting after the other day -- subbed horseradish sauce for 1,000 Island dressing. Really good.

Roads are closed here due to 50mph winds. Lots of wrecks. Stay in & stay safe.

We are ensconced and provisioned. No need to leave the house until the middle of next week.

I forgot 86 Days Until Spring. Yabut, where I live it's never reliably warm ’til after Memorial day.

It's 4:35, just getting dark and I just got up from a nap.
Roads are plowed so we will go out tomorrow afternoon for a few things. I'll start and warm up the truck first and since we won't be long that should do to keep us warm. We will wear our thermal underwear, thick socks and heavy coats. Along with heated seats.
But not tonight. Silly girls were talking about going to a movie because nobody will be there, not even the theater employees. We yelled at them as they have plenty of things to do at home and if they truly need something there are shops nearby. They live almost on the U of M campus and many convenient stores are open 24 hours for the students living in the area. They have several within a short walk.

“Lots of wrecks”
I think it’s rude to make fun of your soundhole brethren, even if true.

Roads are closed and/or treacherous throughout the are. We are supposed to have our traditional family gathering at my sister's tomorrow afternoon. We'll see. My son and his girlfriend had their train cancelled from Long Island to here just as they were getting to it at Penn Station. One brother is in a blizzard zone, as is my daughter and son-in-law. we shall see.

Currently 17°F in New York, [on edit]: real feel feels like 2° with the wind chill, gusts from the NW up to 30 mph. Going down to 15° overnight with a real feel of -5°. I feel bad for the street people, although many sleep on the heated subway trains when it's this cold.
I ain't goin' nowhere.

People who say real feel should have write “I won’t say real feel because it’s trendy” 5000 times. Using a pen and actual paper. Not reproduced on a computer. Where’s the pain in that?
Just to be clear, I liked the post because it like the song. I disliked the post because I hate the term real feel. I guess they cancel each other out.

Me darlin' wife spent three days baking cookies this week. They have myriad destinations but late this afternoon she was delivering them to those neighbors who were home. One neighbor promptly brought over some potpourri of the same sort they gave us last year. I don't have any cynicism is me but if I did I'd give it a break this time of year. There are a lot of good people in the world.
