Bleak midwinter here. Waiting for sun. Shoveled out this AM. Mailbox was buried by the plows.

I like the evening - I really don’t like morning

Back from eye surgery. Again it wasn't a big deal. This time I have very mild pain in the eye, which isn't unusual, but an ibuprofen already has it diminishing. I'm having late coffee and a late breakfast of huevos rancheros. That name can mean just about anything but in this case it's chorizo and potatoes mixed with scrambled eggs. "I'm happy for you guys and all of you that do the Woordle thing. But there's NOTHING more boring that sitting in a restaurant for dinner while 3 of the 4 people talk at length for 15 minutes about their Wordle strategies and conquests." I'd be bored too. Never had a conversation like that. But I do have some theories. Give me a call if you ever want to hear them. I've come around to the view that some players I know would improve their scores if they consistently played in hard mode.

I don't like snow but that's a great picture, Terry. And with those icicles is must be as warm there as it is here.

Whenever I find myself missing the sight of a new snow, I just watch Dr. Zhivago again. That pretty much takes care of it.

Same. It helps me. Don't settle down for a snooze though. I won't explain how. 🙂

Titanic, upside down building, Hatfield & McCoy Buffet, Smokey Mountain Knife Works, etc. What's not to like about Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge/Sevierville?
Actually, the rental lodges in the surrounding mountains can be quite relaxing.

I know I'm supposed to be a professional word guy, but Wordle never appealed to me for a second. But then, I'm also lousy at anagrams and other kinds of puzzles that depend on unscrambling letters or reading words backwards or backwards-diagonally. Back in college, I used to do the Syracuse Herald-Journal crossword once in a while, but that was a syndicated puzzle and probably not all that difficult. A glance at the clues for a modern, national-publication-level puzzle leaves me feeling like I never learned to read.
