Have a safe journey, Jeff Beck. Give my regards to Jimi Hendrix, Michael Bloomfield, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Duane Allman, Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, Prince Rogers, et al.
(Notice the roller nut on his Strat, and no string tree.)
Stay safe. Don't get tased.

RIP Jeff. Good morning, everyone.
Zoom meeting, grocery run, coffee with a friend, making dinner. It'll do. Enjoy your day.

Working from home today. Did something last night on the way from the office that wrenched my back and every step produces searing pain in the lower right section. It's not as bad this morning as it was last night, but man! That hurt.
Carry on.

Good morning! It's a heavily overcast, 31 degrees out this morning, heading all the way up to 32 later today.
Not a lot scheduled for today, so I plan to spend part of the day with music. I've already spent some time this morning playing bass, now I'll switch to guitar.
I was in West Music yesterday looking for an end plug for a guitar and a young man (shopper) asked me if I played bass. I said I attempted to and he asked me what kind of finger picks I used for playing bass. I told him I didn't use finger picks and he said he had just bought a new 6 string bass and was going to learn to play it with finger picks.
Anybody out there tried that?

I play bass with my fingers and finger picks would be more of a hindrance than helpful, no down stroke. I am not a bass player, I learned so I could judge right from wrong when working on a bass. I've done the same for many fretted instruments, even the B word.

Morning.
For some reason, I woke up real early, 7:00 AM. But, I was able to get back to sleep, so no problem.

Good morning
18F - 32F cloudy.
As of the 26th I'm going to be in recovery and taking it pretty easy except for therapy. Buddy Milo wants to see that I get to all my therapy sessions so that keeps DaWife working. Glenn is taking me over to Willie's American Guitars to see if they want my B-25. I want to pad Me Darling Wife's bank account as much as I can before I hit surgery as it will be a while before I can really work again. It's nice to have so many good friends, them being retired helps. But being out of my shop for so long is going to be a problem but DaWife bought me a Nintendo Switch a few years ago so I will get to spend some time on that. I found out that the NES destroys my need to be creative so I rarely play it. But in this case it will be useful.
68 Days Until Spring.

Many years ago I played bass in a rock group. I tried using fingerpicks. I was getting sore fingers from playing enormously repetitive bass lines to pop songs that I wished we weren't playing at all. Thought fingerpicks might help. As I recall, they cost me some dexterity, but with a lot of those songs it didn't matter.

A friend who played upright bass at jams I attended always wrapped his plucking fingers in white first aid tape to protect them.

That nut has the string tree built in along the back side. You can't lay the string over the nut like normal. You must thread it through the nut.
I've seen that too. With either first aid tape or sport tape because they both have a rough surface.

I played rudimentary bass in a country band for a couple of years in Denver. Dean Shepherd and the Tanglefoot Trio. Played in the plains just west of Denver. A true blue cowboy bar at a truck stop off IS 80.

"I, IV, V... I, IV, V... I, IV, V..............."
It could be worse than that. I think the nadir was either Mustang Sally or Midnight Hour. We did both and I can't remember which was worse.
On some songs I enjoyed playing bass. Moondance, Heat Wave, Fire. I liked the bass part on Spingsteen's version of Fire and copied it. I developed my own bass parts for Moondance and Heat Wave. I think I improved on Van Morrison's version.

I played bass drum in our high school marching band at the Kentucky Derby parade.
We got 1099s for my small pension and both of our Social Security accounts in today's mail so I entered the data in TaxAct online. Still need several other forms before I can e-file.

Other bass players have been known to use a flatpick on occasion, such as Paul McCartney.
