Happy Birthday, Terry but good luck with the TR3. Mine was in the shop so much I traded it for a Cadillac.

Crimanently! This is on my calendar and I haven't even noticed yet.
Happy Birthday, Terry. May your life continue to be amazing for many, many years.
(I still have a fabulous archtop guitar, 039-1AT, hanging on me but stopped in my playing to post this.)

So, Terry, can you repost that cool Triumph photo sometime?

Actually, I may have the wrong model -- I recall a photo of Pat and Terry in a baby blue Triumph, but it cudda been a TR4. It was a TR4. Here’s a shot in the parking lot at the ATO house at the U of M 1965. Another in it’s usual state of repose trying to get back to school in Denver, same year. The most fun and most unreliable car I ever owned. Bruce knows what I am talking about. They came with a bundle of unexpected adventures stashed in the trunk along with the tool roll and grease gun. I had a 1962 TR3B in Alexandria for about 20 years but was careful not to get farther than 10 miles from home.

What sad times were those when a British roadster could be fitted with whitewall tyres, but then, they do go nicely with the ragtop.

I think my dad's was a TR-6. My earliest "car" memory is riding in the back, peeking out from under the top boot or tonneau cover while my dad was driving in the rain. It was the very early 70's and seats, and seatbelts, were apparently optional for kids.

Another kind of white sidewalls, and he also gets some flack about it: (tho not to his face)

What sad times were those when a British roadster could be fitted with whitewall tyres, but then, they do go nicely with the ragtop. The erection of the top was quite a process. It folded up and was stowed in the trunk so first you fitted the frame which folded behind the seats then fitted the top over it and did all the snaps followed by tensioning the frame and hoping something didn’t break. Took at least 6-7 minutes minimum. Pat and I did do a couple of rallies in it. We had snazzy outfits. Here she is taking a cigarette break at a checkpoint. We never did very well but had fun.
