The 1965 Chevy Impala! Its total of 1,074,925 sales still stands as the single year record for any vehicle sold in the U.S. And my dad helped. He bought a beautiful sea mist green 4-door hardtop. [img src="https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/6SAAAOSwxehixI54/s-l1600.jpg" alt=" "} The Impala's sale record is impressive as, after several years of mutts, Ford finally came up with a competitive beauty itself, the '65 Galaxie Fastback. (the 61 Ford was a looker, and 63 dressed up nice, but 60, 62, and 64, UGLY! And Chevy had beauties those years. The '65 Ford had a lot of bad ju ju to overcome or else it might have been the sales champ. But those even year Fords, feeda faen!) www.foxnews.com/auto/junky-1959-chevrolet-impala-engine-sold

I always thought the 1961 Impala was one ugly hunk of metal.

High school friend had a '63 Impala. It was originally black, I think, but he had it refinished in ambulance white. It was a beauty.
Agree the '63 Galaxie is a looker. A neighbor has a '64 Galaxie, his first car (he has owned it since high school). I don't know what you have against the '64 but I'd take it in a heartbeat. Although my Falcon was a '63, I liked the looks of the '64 Falcon better. '60-'63 were a little fuddy-duddy. Of course if I got a '64 I'd need to get it with the V8, as my 6-banger was slightly slower than a first grader trying out a skateboard for the first time.
1963 in my opinion was a good year for good-looking cars. Another friend had a 1963 Dart with a push-button transmission. Also very cool.

In 1965, Britons were still driving their best-selling Austin 1100 cars in black and white.

Eye of beholder, I guess. I love the '61 Impala (and the '60, 62, 63, 64). The '64 Ford, well, it's fine, I guess. I think it just reminds me too much of the bloated blah of a boat 62 Ford. As seen by looking through the links, any one of them can look sharp, or like a dog, depending on angle and presentation. And I would take any one of them myself in a heartbeat, except for the '62 Ford. I would move that ugly as quick as I could. (and a lot of the photos of the '61 Chevy do seem to emphasis its rear end, and not in a good way (I think a fetish is ivolved). '61 Impala collection'64 Ford collection

When I was in junior high, a neighbor who was in his 20s and gainfully employed by his family's greenhouse business, bought a bright red '64 Impala coupe with 327 motor and Muncie four-speed, a sleeper in many ways, such as bench seats.
He'd scare the crap out of me on occasion by inviting me to ride along and cruise Hastings Way, looking for stoplight races. Don't think he ever lost one when I was aboard, at least. He was a good speed shifter, which helped.

Rarely got to drive it, dad had a 65 impala, 327/300hp, two speed automatic, bench seat, silver w/black vinyl top. Thin white walls, wire wheel covers w/fake knockoffs.

My first car was a beautiful 66 Skylark. Mom bought a 67 Impala when dad died.
