To me that’s just creepy but someone will flip over it. Using light colored wood like Maple for binding is difficult as the butt joints are almost impossible to hide and are quite obvious at the head and tail blocks as in this guitar. The best looking ones I ever saw were done by Charlie Hoffman, he cut them at an angle and they weren’t nearly as conspicuous as a butt joint. I have tried it, not as easy as one would think. I really like the curved corners on the headstock purfling. Addendum - check this one out Marty. Are they asking more than it sold for? cartervintage.com/shop/martin-om-28-50th-anniversary-podium-2009-natural/2Nw2d5rjSqVm7kOCMO9KISe4ed2

I'm sure it's not only beautiful but good sounding too. But who could afford to really play it. I see it as a collectors "art" guitar. Like owning a Grit Laskin guitar.
I think Jim Olson's guitars start at $20k now. You rarely see one, unless it's one of James Taylor's or one of Olson's earlier "Church" guitars. Although Taylor's first guitar was built in Jim's church shop.

My preferred snakehead guitar is named L-3 or L-4, and was built in 1924.

Last time I was at Jim’s, just before the pandemic he Let me play one that was shipping out at somewhere in the $30,000 range. It had a stunning fretboard multicolored inlay done by Grit I think. Jim said the price of the inlay was about five grand.
He also played a phone message from Dave Matthews went something like “Hi Jim, I have $45,000 to spend on a guitar, what can you do for me?

I got the same message from Dave Matthews, but I've never heard of him so didn't pay any attention.

Don’t feel bad VI, I had to look him up too but I pretended I knew who he was at the time.

I know who Dave Matthews is. I just don’t know why Dave Matthews is.

Some years ago, Dave Matthews and Brian Calhoun, of Rockbridge Guitars, had this ongoing competition where they'd slap each other at unexpected moments. Matthews is a longtime client of Rockbridge. That doesn't make this right.

Actually, I'm not a fan of snakes and skulls as rock-n-roll, and motorcycle, and anything motifs. Death and evil spirits have no mystique for me.

I have a dragon on one headstock. Dragons eat snakes. And, snakes aren’t devils. They are snakes.

They shall take up serpents... I'm pretty sure John's working today, so I'll post instead. "Serpents" sounds an awful lot like Sir...
