Good morning. A predicted high of a sunny 73° in New York today, showers overnight, and a high of 75° tomorrow. I'll take it.
On this day:

Good morning. It's 60 degrees and should reach the mid-80s. It'll be a quiet Sunday in Lake Wobegon and also in our house. I hope it's a restful one for all of you.

Good morning, shaping up to be a warm, sunny and bloomingly green day here, just like the day six years ago when my dear bestie Lonnie Knight died, in his favorite hangout, the red couch on the front porch of his charming south Minneapolis house. How I miss that man and his mind and his music. (Newbies, that's Lonnie in my profile photo, the tall one.) I'm sure he would appreciate it if you'd sample some of his prodigious artistry via YouTube today.
I'm off shortly to get the grocery shopping done that I failed to get done yesterday and get comfy for the Miami Grand Prix, which has plenty of pre-race intrigue, including Lewis Hamilton qualifying way back in 13th place and Max Verstappen well off the front rows, as well.
Be well, all.

I've been watching a pair of ospreys nesting atop a cell tower on one of the routes I do most days. The reason I noticed them in the first place was that I saw one of them flying while carrying a more than foot long string or twig. I got to wondering how a bird like that lands if its talons are already occupied with holding the nesting material? Yesterday I chanced to see it again. And again it was carrying a very long branch. As it approached the cell tower it hovered over it for a second and dropped the twig on the tower. Then it landed. Question at least somewhat answered. Off to the Amazon.

Cloudy, maybe clearing this afternoon.
Not a quiet day. Off to church, followed by a congregational meeting, followed by an afternoon and evening with high-energy granddaughters.
Thinking of Lonnie today. The finest musician I have ever known personally. He even affirmed my tall tale telling.

Cloudy, some sun breaks, maybe a shower or two. High of 65. Walk later. Fail Wordle now. Nita made tortilla soup last night, it was good and there are leftovers.

Off to sing in the rain... unless the choir loft repairs are finally finished.

Every time you say it's cloudy, it's sunny where I am. I'm starting to think you're an Al Capp character.

Every time you say it's cloudy, it's sunny where I am. I'm starting to think you're an Al Capp character. It was when I said it. It was when we entered the Little Oven and when we went in HyVee. It's sunny now and the cats are basking in it out front.

Really enjoyable F1 race just concluded -- lots more passing than was expected, good clean racing, no retirements, not a single caution flag. I know there are people who watch motorsports for the excitement of crashes, but I am not one of those people.
On edit, also a wonderful conclusion to the Wells Fargo Open, the winner's first PGA victory. Also, no crashes.

I'm okay but just went through something very stressful and I started to have a reaction. I've stated before that I'm selling a lot of my vintage parts collection on Reverb. Well a Gibson brass case badge in very good condition sold. I couldn't find the thing to save my soul and I keep all my Reverb stock in one area in the office space. I mean I was getting really frantic and started have extreme body shaking. Cheri sat me down and told me to give it a rest for a while so I could settle down. I sat down and relaxed until I quit shaking so bad and then went over the stock area again. There in a clear box that I had looked at before but had not picked up was the badge. Now I feel stupid for getting so upset, that's not like me. Usually I would stop and think it out. Hate this getting old crap.

Scene's from last night's Philharmonic. Lower left is a Fender amp; above is the banjo player. The amp was for the Celeste. The song was Symphony No. 1, "Afro-American" in A-flat Major by William Grant Still. Beautiful piece, and the oldest piece (1931) on the program.
