Chances are good they will pass the bill.
I wonder how that will affect DUI arrests. All too often I pull up behind a car that smells like a Grateful Dead concert. That is DUI just as much as drinking and driving, or am I wrong?

Under the influence is under the influence; no update to the laws are needed as impaired is impaired, regardless of the source (including prescriptions that advise against using heavy machinery or driving, for example).

My feeling is that the last thing we need is another mood altering substance legalized.
That said, I spent the better part of my life in ERs at all hours taking care of trauma resulting from overindulgence in such substances. I have to say off the top of my head, I can’t remember a single instance of weed related cases. 99% alcohol.

My guess is that some bar-boozer drivers switched to weed (lowering the booze numbers and raising the weed) and that some weed-only drivers happily stayed home (lowering the overall number.) We'll see. |

In my youth we messed with pot because it was the "thing". But that was Mexican stuff grown as fast and as cheaply as possible.
These new strains of pot are ass kickers and I'm talking "Schlag deinen Schwanz in den Dreck" good can be a bit much if you are not used to it. As in some people may try it because it's legal now.
Getting high while driving is never a good idea.

Some Mexican weed hits the spot. Many years ago I bought a big handful of weed from a villager on the Oaxacan coast. Only a couple of bucks. It’s fair to say that driving would not have been wise. Completely out of my gourd, I could barely control the movement of the hammock I slumped into let alone a motor vehicle.

They passed it. Legal to have up to 2-lbs for in home use. That's almost a kilo and in most illegal states would get you busted for sales. I expect people to be sitting on their front porch smoking soon. No big deal to me as long as they don't drive. Now we'll have people complaining about the smell but nobody complained when they were BBQing.

If you drank alcohol you were not hired to begin with, not even if you were a recovered drinker. These people were clueless. The Johnny Cash show had no alcohol rules but they hired drinkers, just don't get caught. |

There are people you will have to explain that to. The MOOD products were legal before this but people didn't seem to understand that you can't use them and drive. |
