Cornflake's post about his father and half brother has me waxing nostalgic about family. Here is a photo of my great-uncle Henri, and great-aunt Annette, in Paris just after their wedding in 1931. Uncle Henri was the family badass (my paternal grandmother's kid brother, born in 1896) and worked with the French Underground during WWII. I don't know exactly what he did, but he took no sh*t, apparently. Uncle Henri and Aunt Annette divorced when the war broke out, and a year or so after the war ended, remarried and stayed together until his death in 1975. He is buried in a cemetery in Paris.
Wishing everyone a good day, and respect for our ancestors.

Terrific, Howard.
I have my social breakfast on Zoom in two hours, Then grocery shopping, then taking some of the groceries to a homebound friend. Can anyone tell me how to join an online meeting via live view?
Have a good day, everyone.

The less you and the authorities know about my family the better it is.

Good morning, all.
As regards families, this coming Sunday is the birthday of my youngest son and my biological mother.
As Cornflake is learning, having an extra set of biological relatives can make for interesting situations.

Good morning
54F-72F cloudy.
Hopefully no errands today. Cats fed, wife spoiled ie: coffee served while in bed or at desk, breakfast served at desk and fresh pot of coffee made. Fed myself and now with coffee in hand will head down to the shop.
Yesterday I did some long overdue maintenance on one of my neck heating presses. It didn't seem to be getting as hot as it used to so I opened it up and there was some built up carbon deposits on the heating elements. This can cause a partial short to ground, like a very high value resistor. Cleaned that up and reinsulated all the connections then cleaned the tarnished plug connections. Today I'll plug it in and test for proper heat. Having a neck press is a coveted thing as they are really expensive these days and I have two, but one no workie, yet. Neener neener neener.
EDIT: I know, nobody but Terry knows what the hell I'm going on about!

Good morning! I got my 20 mile bike ride in yesterday, so today I can go shopping. I stopped earlier this week at Theisens in Vinton, to get a new pair of jeans and they had almost nothing. In the model of Wranglers that I like, they had 4 pair, 2 for people with a waist less than 28 inches and 2 with a waist over 48. I'll try the Theisens in Cedar Rapids and if they don't have any i'll try Kohls.
I heard there was a dress code for Todd's open mic.

If you order now, they may arrive in the next 15 mins. LOL!

Everything else are butt huggers and not comfortable.

Target used to carry Wranglers, and I liked them because their fit was reliable and the price was decent. Then they started limiting the sizes (are there no short, podgy men any more?), then carried only stretch, and then they dropped them altogether. As little as I like buying clothes on line, I gave in and ordered them from Amazon, which (unlike every brick & mortar store I've explored) still offer non-stretch clothing. Prices are a bit higher than Target's were, but at least they have 38-29 non-stretch in all the styles. Fortunately, a pair of jeans will outlast any change in my body shape, so I won't have to do this kind of search for quite a while.
And don't get me started about corduroys.

I am looking forward to my ex-paralegal taking me out for birthday lunch today and my kids taking me out for dinner. Otherwise, I am just making clients happy and chasing dollars here.

I had an MRI on my heart this morning to determine if there's any muscle damage. Doc will call in a few days with results.
I asked the tech if they found a heart. She assured me that they had, even though it was shriveled up and black. I guess I wasn't the only smart ass in the room.
I then went to my old farts lunch. Now it's nap time. I had to be at the north side of Indy (35 miles) at 7:45 a.m. so I was up way too early.

I came home and finally found some on line, (none on Amazon) and I ordered 2 pair. Now I have to stay the same size so they fit.

When I went into the hospital in 2020 I my 36" were just getting a little tight. When I came out I had to buy 31" or a loose 32". Now 34" are just right and I'm going to try and keep it that way.

Back from lunch with our social club at a BBQ place. Had an OK turnout with 8 people. It was quite an expensive lunch, since we stopped at Total Wine on the way home and spent over $200 on Scotch, wine, and beer.
