So, the rain came again, just as I was attempting to diagnose why the belt came off of my mower while cutting the back yard. I got it back on in the drizzle and tried it. Violent vibration from the deck, so either something is broken or I didn't get it back on correctly. Never did that before so I'm assuming a spindle has gone bad or an idler. Pulled it into the garage and called it a day.

I'd call it a lot worse than "day" it were my mower. Recalcitrant duckers.

Thanks, Howard. My dad was one of the guys in the landing crafts at Omaha. He spoke of it very little but did say that the water at the beach was red. He went on to the Battle of the Bulge...spoke little of that as well except to say Christmas Eve/Day was beyond brutal. All honor and respect to him and his brothers.
My best friend's dad was a captain in the Army Medical Corps. He attended the wounded behind the lines at the Battle of the Bulge. The battle raged through Christmas, and many of the men were badly wounded; my friend's dad wanted to find a way to get a few cases of Scotch so they could have a holiday toast—for some, it could have been their last. It was almost impossible, under the circumstances. My friend tells me his father called the CO of the Quartermaster group and raised holy hell; magically, several cases of Scotch showed up in time for the holiday.
Props and respect to your dad, martinfever.

Today was a little lighter. 13 hours instead of 14.
