I woke up thinking about Stevie Wonder. Don't you worry 'bout a thing. 1974.
Stormy in New York this morning. Time for some coffee and prep for the work from home day. Kitchen cabinets are supposed to be arriving today. Or Monday. <sigh>
Good day, all.

Barack Obama and Donald Trump inadvertently ended up getting a shave at the same barber shop at the same time. The barbers, wondering if things might get nasty, were nervous.
Trump’s barber was almost done and was getting ready to use an after-shave as a final touch.
Donald was quick to stop him, saying, “I’ll pass. After-shave have a strong smell. My wife Melania will smell it and think I’ve been in a whorehouse.”
The other barber then said to Barack, “How about you, Mr. Obama, any after-shave?”
Barack replied, “Sure, why not? Michelle has no idea what a whorehouse smells like.”

Great song, Howard. Good morning, y'all. We'll be leaving around noon for Flagstaff. We'll be there until August 2nd. The temperatures up there are mostly expected to be 50s-80s. We should get showers and thunderstorms. This is a bad photo taken from near the cabin where we'll be staying. I've really been looking forward to this. Wordle 762 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟨⬜⬜⬜ 🟨⬜🟨⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Gonna be 112 today. Wish I was going to Flagstaff. Well, we do have an escape to San Diego planned, but not until next month.
Only had 6 people show up for yesterday's lunch at a restaurant with our social club, which Mr. H and I host. Seems like people aren't socializing. Don't know if it's the heat or the effects of pandemic culture.

Sunny not too hot
Howard - it is indeed Flashback Friday. Your descriptions of your kitchen remodel are giving me flashbacks of our kitchen remodel in 1996/1997, at a time when we had two elementary school kidz.
Packing up to go to camp, specifically Clawcamp. Dan Levenson, a noted Appalachian old-time musician, is holding a weekend banjo and fiddle workshop on the banks of the Grand River about 30 miles west of here. Hosted by a gentleman who is a veterinarian, banjo player, fiddler and winemaker. I have communicated online with the host for several years, we will finally meet in person. Should be fun, but I approach it with some trepidation, in that a noted teacher and other campers will know just how badly I suck at clawhammer banjo.
Iowa people - stand by to wave at my neighbor Jim as he rides through your town. Jim recently turned 70 and decided to ride RAGBRAI this year. The route goes through Amana, seems to run close to other Iowa SoundHooligans.

60 degrees on the button at 9:00 AM. High projected to be in the low 80s with another evening cool down. That's pattern we've been in and will be in for the next ten-day forecast. You all (yawl?) need summer homes in North Dakota. Sometimes the clouds look just like pretty mountains on the horizon. Add in a blooming flax field and you have an azure sea with butterflies.

Good morning
59F-83F sunny
Day didn't start well. Woke up to a bout of vertigo, a bad one. So I hung upside down over the edge of the bed as taught to. Seems to have worked as I can now stand. Doc appointment this morning, I'll talk to him about the vertigo.
Don't remember if I mentioned yesterday that my Mr. Coffee Espresso maker that has been my neck steamer like forever crapped out on me yesterday. Not sure if I'm going to try to fix it or replace it.

We are in Whistler. Our trip to Bella Coola, then up the crazy hill to Williams Lake got cancelled. Wildfire cut the highway, and we had no way of knowing if it would reopen, and the return ferries were all booked up, and the hotels. So we turned around went back down. Going to go for a hike up Blackcomb Mountain today.
Weather here has still been eerily wonderful. Clearer by far than it usually is in the summer, and the smoke from all the fires continues to blow away from the coast. Temp has been perfect — these are the kinds of summers west coasters dream of. Enjoying it for now, but feeling for the folks in the rest of the province who are watching and hoping the fires move away.

Up and at em. Got a small flat of brisket on the smoker, the kids are coming over for brisket tacos tonight. Made a big batch over those spicy pickled Mex carrots and it came out pretty good. Listed my Honda lawn mower for sale on a local bulletin board, and some one is coming to check it out in a few. If it sells I’ll get a smaller battery powered one.

Working a half-shift today that started at 9, so I was able to get the motorcar washed, pick up a mug of coffee and make a Trader Joe's stop beforehand.
On a picture-perfect summer's night, 35,000 Beyonce fans were treated to a 2.5-hour show last night at the U of M's outdoor stadium. It sounds like it was an amazing show. I doubt I've ever heard a single song of hers, but she certainly seems to be a huge success story (even without my endorsement, imagine).

Back from the Doc.
Decided I'm going to the Goodwill Store to see if I can find a replacement for my Mr. Coffee. Since it is Friday I will hit any garage sales on the way. I have a back way up to the Goodwill that passes through neighborhoods and doesn't use main streets. This way I'll see the garage sales instead of weeks old signs left out on the main streets.
One of my pet peeves is leaving old sales signs up. Garage sales signs should be addressed and dated. Then removed within 48 hours of the close of the sale, not left to rot and clutter. Signs not addressed and dated should be torn down and signs left pass 48 hours of the sale possibly cited. Our area gets corners covered in old sales signs left to rot.

I haven’t been around much. Several trips to Nebraska as Pat’s mom was going downhill and passed. All while battling leg pain from a spinal nerve entrapment and taking lots of Tylenol and Advil to cope. Have had some complications from the drugs, rash hearing loss. Having a spinal cortisone shot Monday that will hopefully help. Need the hearing evaluated. Lots on the plate.
I’ll check In occasionally when possible. Whine over.

I will make it a short workday then home for yardwork, a dog walk, and guitar. Mike's mention of smoked brisket has inspired me. I might make a run to Costco and grab a slab.

I really like hardware stores, second only to guitar shops. Happily, there are several good ones [hardware stores] in walking distance.
