Good morning. We'll have 60s-80s and sunshine. Of course, we almost always have sunshine. My plans for the day are limited to making tacos for dinner. I think I can manage that.
Have a good day, everyone.

I hear shotguns off in the distance. Hunters are in the fields. Colder weather starts today with lows of 25-28 next week. Oh, well. Life is what you make it. Or, sometimes it’s what it makes you.

"Oh, well. Life is what you make it." I'm not so sure. If I were making mine I'd have richer parents, better looks and a lot more charm.

Morning. Cold this morning. Close to freezing. The wife is heading off to N of Seattle for the celebration of life for her Marine nephew that was killed in a car accident. I guess yesterday they had the graveside service with full military honors, 21 gun salute, all that. Incredibly sad, he was so young. 18 of his fellow marines flew up from Camp Pendleton for the service. I think that attests to his character. Anyway…
Be careful out there, too much bad juju going around.

Good morning
27F-35F cloudy.
Nice dinner with my girls last night. I'll spend the morning in my shop and then DaWife and I will do a Sam's Club run.

This is my third attempt to post in the daily. For some reason, my browser has crashed twice in the midst of typing.
I just heard from a friend in Paris that she and her husband will be in New York next week, for ten days. Instagram tales of my Holocaust survivor mother caused Hélène to write to me 7 years ago. We have never met face to face, but I know they are lovely, cultured people. She is an abstract painter, and he is an architect with the firm of Renzo Piano. My French is about at the same level as their English, which might be around 2nd grade. This will definitely be fun.
What does one serve Parisians for dinner?
Anyway, a little bit of the lovely Françoise Hardy.
Diving into some guitar string changes here. Enjoy your Saturday.

Highs in the upper 80's today. Still recovering from cataract surgery on Thursday. Vision is still cloudy, but they say that could last a few days. So the jury is still out on how well I'll be able to see out of that eye. The pinhole test showed I should end up at about 20/25 or so. Until then seeing is a challenge and frustrating.

Something they don't commonly get in Paris. How about a nice BBQ brisket?

Mostly cloudy, breezy, chillier than the past week. Yard work today.
My brand-new iPhone 15 is beside me and I couldn't be less excited. My iPhone 10R has served me well and would have no need to upgrade, however the iPhone 10 is dying. My son, who takes far more interest in such things, handled the ordering. He figured the latest and (almost) greatest would be the most cost-effective.

Yogurt and blueberries consumed, coffee sipped and I'm feeling lightheaded (get it?) after a beard trim at Sport Clips. Ten bucks for the cut, ten bucks to the cutter, seems fair. More errands later, just a pit stop to check in with the bozos on this bus.

Toss some snails on a plate. Pour garlic butter over them. They can get that at HOME. Nice Deli sandwich with corned beef and white cheddar.

I ran into a friend in the neighborhood a little while ago and she said the same thing—suggested doing a small Thanksgiving-style dinner because they don't really have turkey and that sort of thing in France. Quintessentially American! I like the idea, especially because we do Thanksgiving at my son's home the last couple of years with takeout from one of the numerous Chinese restaurants in his neighborhood (the family has dwindled down to a small head count).

Waiting on a friend to go shoot skeet and trap. I have borrowed my son's semi-auto Browning Gold 20 gauge because it is the softest shooting shotgun I have encountered and I am out of shooting shape.
The refrigerator repair was finally successful, despite Samsung literally miss-numbering the part I needed. I had to cannibalize the wrong part that I ordered and the old part and make a trip to Ace Hardware to purchase aluminum ferrules to splice wires together. Youtube, elbow grease and patience finally paid off. Fridge is at 36F and freezer is at -2F.

Make sure to include the Jello salad with the little marshmallows and Miracle Whip dressing. Give 'em the Real American Cuisine™ experience.

We once attended a Thanksgiving dinner with some Midwesterners here in Manhattan, and one of the side dishes was a Snickers™ salad. That's exactly what it sounds like.
Our daughter has suggested an angel-food cake for dessert, which she will bake, à la mode with vanilla ice cream.
