Good morning. Happy Thanksgiving. Cool morning here in Florida. Gonna be a nice weather day here in Florida. We're going to Kelly's for the big dinner this afternoon with her, RJ and the grandkids. It's gonna be a good time. Be well, be happy everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving. Remember, when you are eying that 4th piece of pie, moderation in all things.

I'm off today. The calm before the storm. Yesterday the light was magnificent as I drove the countryside. I couldn't stop gawking at the same ol' scenery that I see every day, suddenly made into Fredric Church paintings by the combination of strongly angled autumn sunlight and clouds that couldn't decide whether to rain or get out of the way. Dar's working on the crust for a cherry pie. When she'd finished that we'll go for a walk.

Good morning and I hope everyone has a very pleasant Thanksgiving. Since we cooked a turkey dinner for our French guests a couple of weeks ago, we will be joining my son at his place for shrimp cocktail, turkey meatballs and spaghetti, broccoli rabe, salad, fresh baguette, and a home-baked cake (daughter's) for dessert. A professor friend (known each other for 40 years, one of my favorites, aside from drlj) will be joining us and crashing on our sofa tonight. I plan to make some breakfast now, take a walk in the nice bright, crisp air, and play some guitar before we need to leave for dinner.
Hard to believe we eat these things.

Argh. Just took the turkey out of the fridge, where it’s been defrosting since Sunday and it’s still a bit frozen. It doesn’t go into the oven fir a few hours so we will see how it goes.
In some good news, my daughter texted me last night, asking if she could come over early, bring her violin, and try to play together on some folk tunes. This makes Mike extremely happy. We’ve never tried before, don’t know how it will work out, but it sounds like quality time with the Kate-ster so I’m in. ☺️
That’s all from Oregon where it’s still 0 dark 30

Our 3 boys, only daughter in law, and both grand daughters are on board. Glorious. Thankful. 5 inches of snow tomorrow to begin the holiday decorations.
Cheers, kids!

Happy Thanksgiving! I also have much to be thankful for: the love of my life, a nice house in a safe neighborhood, reasonably good health (for someone my age), family and friends, even the Internet. The turkey has been on ice in a cooler in the atrium and is thawed. At 12:15 PM the cooking begins with me making the wild rice stuffing. Then Mr. H stuffs the bird and gets it into the oven. We'll do our walk while it starts roasting, as we will have hours before anything else needs to happen. Maybe we'll look at the Macy's parade on TV this morning. Breakfast will be cereal and fruit.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
21F-36F partly cloudy.
After waffling about it we finally decided on Lobster Mac & Cheese for dinner so that everyone could eat the same thing. We'll have that with roasted sweet and red potatoes with onion, some green beans in lemon/butter sauce with almonds and a salad. The girls will bring French Silk pie. Kind of an odd meal but everyone gets a favorite. This also limits the amount of pans used that I will have to wash as girls always seem to find something that must be done right about cleanup time.
Until then I have nothing to do but cater to two spoiled cats.
I must have been a good customer at StewMac this year as they sent me a $25 credit for my next purchase. I ordered a $30 toggle switch wrench and paid the extra $5. I'm a StewMac member so I always get free shipping.

A Thanksgiving dinner for two is a Cornish game hen and some stuffing. With the right level of zoom it could be a turkey.

Have I mentioned how thankful I am to have this community? I am thankful for each and every one of you, even those of you who think I'm an asshole, even those where I occasionally think, "how can [X] POSSIBLY think THAT?!?" Totally serious. Some days this group is my lifeline to the world. Some days it's not I'm thankful for those of you I've met in person, and those of you I have not. I'm thankful for those of you in the US celebrating today, and those of you in different countries who can't figure out why we'd celebrate today.

T-minus an hour or so before I head out. I'll stop at Speedway to fill up my coffee travel mug, run the motorcar though the wash (I like starting trips with a clean car -- I feel as though other drivers treat me a wee bit better), buy a new tube of Chapstick and head off into the sun.
It's a crisp early winter's day, no weather drama is foreseen and I have a lovely two-lane blacktop route selected. On the way home I'll take I-94, but it's not usually as compacted then as it is on outbound holiday mornings.
Love and good cheer to all you fine folks.

What kind of stuffing do Hoosiers use for roast squirrel? There is an old Hoosier/Indian recipe for acorn stuffing that is pretty popular. Often the squirrel is served with an acorn in its mouth but that could be because it was eating when shot.
