So it isn’t a Rueben, it’s a corned beef on rye with onion. Snobbery does not suit you. The Reuben essentials are rye bread, corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. Salad dressing is just not needed, but if it must be there, it should be Russian, not Thousand Island, says Bill the Snob.

80 degrees here and all I can do is look out the window. That’s because I’m sitting in the Tampa airport waiting for a plane to takes me home.
I’ve been at a conference for a few days and loved the weather. But it’s time to come home, there’s a concert in Garrison tomorrow and Joy is in it.
Ken, I waved at you.

David, it’s prolly too late, but Gracie’s Sea Hag in Depot Bay kicks Mo’s clam chowder to the curb.

NBC is faced with how to cover a ski race that has been cancelled because of high winds and heavy snow at Birds of Prey in Beaver Creek. Bummer.

Played an afternoon gig in New London. First real job since our disastrous fall. It went pretty well. There were quit a few moment when I really had fun. It’s been a long time since I have felt that way.
Our 85 year old trumpet player moved to assisted living in Northfield, three hours away. He has cognitive and medical issues and his wife has macular degeneration but his family brought him up for the job as he always love playing New London. He did OK and it was a joy to see him.
Old age can suck when you die slowly in little pieces. Visual loss, hearing loss, cognitive loss, mobility loss - not for the faint of heart.
Sometimes I think the Eskimos got it right. At a certain point everyone says their goodbyes and they put you out into the ocean on a hunk of ice.

Inspired by Bill's post about the Culver's Reuben, we stopped at one for late lunch after running some errands. I asked if they could substitute pot roast for the corned beef, and girl on the counter called the shift manager (an oldster of maybe 18), who agreed it could be done and poked at the touchscreen for about five minutes (not complaining or giving us the stink-eye), wrestling the computerized ordering/inventory system to the ground. It came as requested and was quite nice. As was the free frozen custard flavor of the day we got because C. faithfully fills out the survey that comes with the receipt.
It ain't exactly health food, but we're too old to die young.
I can now spent the early evening listening to American Routes and Radio Deluxe via KBEM's internet feed. Saturdays are all about comfort stuff.
Eek! A grocer's apostrophe! (Repaired.)

I love stating that I’m too old to die young, first I realized that was only a couple of years ago. Should be a sobering thought, but I find it amusing. I’ve had a very good life. It’s OK to take me now.

Terry...."Sometimes I think the Eskimos got it right. At a certain point everyone says their goodbyes and they put you out into the ocean on a hunk of ice."
The Vikings - they put a dead one in a boat or a raft in the ocean. The archers have bows with flaming arrows - all his old stuff is in the boat so everything is done - ashes & goodbyes - now another dimension
If you seen Rocket Gilbratar (A total 10) it's interesting about relatives, life and also death - clan is a close-knit family
You'll find it at the end, you'll see "they put into the ocean a hunk of ice"
