Morning and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Our entire family is here. Me and Charlene, Anna and Josh, Gus and Anne. Plus Anna and Josh brought their new puppy, a very bold and extremely well-socialized 9-week-old chocolate lab. First thing he did was race up to Casper and bounce in 12 different directions in a solicitation to play. Then he jumped on me and licked my nose. Man, I really like puppies, and this one is a ball.
We will commence with waffles and pie in an hour or so, and then open presents. I am so excited about the present I got Charlene. It has gotten harder over the years to come up with just the right Christmas present for a wife you've been with for over thirty years... but this year I nailed it. A Captain America poster with a great shot of Chris Evans' butt. Charlene is a huge Captain America fan and this will just be the most perfect addition to her quilting room. I can't wait to see her delighted eyes upon opening! (and next year, Thor!)
(if you don't hear from me again, ever, it may be that I miscalculated)

There were never 3 kings of orient. There were magi that visited the young child in the house. Jesus was somewhere between 1 and 2 when that occurred. The number of magi is unspecified. There were, however, 3 gifts, each with their own significance for a child king. www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/the-re-gifts-of-the-wise-men

Merry Christmas everyone, and happy birthday to those who chose Dec 25th for the auspicious day. Breakfast started out well, with cookies and Anita’s Pumpkin log, followed by a egg, cheese, sausage, tater tot casserole. It was good. Presents were passed around and brought smiles to all. The roast is in the sous vide for a late lunch with the kids. So far it’s a great day. (Except for maybe that Wordle fail)

Good morning and Merry Christmas.Blessings abound today. Just to pick one ... Deb's foresight decades ago in saving those dopey Christmas ornaments the boys made in kindergarten. Cheers If her foresight lasts as long as my mother's has, you'll be hanging something like this on your tree in more than 50 years. I made this marshmallow head Santa in cub scouts in third or fourth grade. When is started looking creepy, not do mention fairly disgusting, which was several decades ago, it became a Frank family tradition to hang it in a prominent spot on the tree. My daughters and I will go to Ames in a week or so, my Mom is OK but she found out she had covid a couple days ago. In the meantime, I'll be making a Mississippi roast, mashed potatoes, etc. I will defy midwest tradition my making green bean casserole without using a can of cream of mushroom soup but using button mushrooms, flour and cream instead. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. And a very happy birthday to Marshall and Barb.

... I just read the forecast for Fargo-Moorhead and beyond and it sounds like total blizzard conditions are the order of the day up dere. Epaul, a report, please? So far, it's like there is a wall holding off the storm at Grand Fork's gate. And it looks like we will miss the brunt. If not the all. Fargo is getting both barrels of it, whatever it is. Looks like a mix of rain, freezing rain, and sleety snow. Fargo can keep it.

Hi, everyone, and Merry Christmas!
It has been a good day here, and more family are arriving for dinner shortly.
The only real mis-step in the day is that I talked Kathy into upgrading her phone and she is a bit miffed at having to learn how to use it. It will be good in the end, though.

Back home after a lovely gathering of eight souls and a wonderful meal, with lots of family tales retold as we consumed ham, cheesy potatoes and a longtime family favorite, Broccoli Curry Divan, which is a casserole of tender-cooked broccoli, sour cream, curry powder, mushrooms and shredded cheddar -- delish.
Return trip to Roseyville took exactly 90 minutes. Amazing how many stupid drivers there were, driving in the rain with their headlights off, stacked up bumper to bumper in the passing lane. I stayed right and stayed calm and safe.
I thought of Soundholers as I saw license plates from Illinois, Indiana, North Dakota and even one from Montana, but it was odd, solid black background, white letters, no artwork or slogan. Whaddup with that, MajMin?

Opening presents has been put off until Wednesday evening.
Dawife, Ayana and I started the day with Stuffed French Toast with strawberries. The girls had Mimosas and I had OJ, neat.
A very lazy day of watching movies and lovely grilled cheese sammies for lunch.
Now we are having a semi-late dinner of fabulous ribeye steaks with roasted baby red potatoes and corn.
I have been watching myself and not imbibing the Christmas goodies today so I can have a nightcap of Irish fortified eggnog.
We work tomorrow so early to bed.

Christmas Brunch/Birthday went well. One of the guys has a daughter who lives near Sweetwater in Fort Wayne. She sent me a Sweetwater coffee cup because she knows I am a Sweetwater fan. Tomorrow, instead of my trusty Waffle House coffee cup, I will use my new Sweetwater coffee cup. Who knows what other coffee cups lie in my future?

Holidays are always odd for us at the best of times--surviving family far away--and Covid made us feel even more locked in (though there was no place to go anyway). But the rebound symptoms are bearable so far (sniffle, cough), and we both had projects to work on (I sent off my monthly review column), so it wasn't unlike lots of quiet days. I did watch Shakespeare in Love on the Tivo, first time since it came out 25 years ago. The liberties it takes with literary history for the sake of some easy laughs are still annoying (Blackadder II is better at it), but otherwise it's a very pretty movie with an excellent cast and a surprisingly effective presentation of segments of Romeo and Juliet at the end. Turns out that even Gwyneth Paltrow can act.

It's been a good Christmas. We had all three offspring, son-in-law and sister-in-law for Christmas dinner (tamales). Now the house seems very quiet.

I went to Sweetwater after I left your house and ended up with something similar.
