As I am certain you all are aware, May 6th is this year's date for World Accordion Day, but in a blessing bestowed upon the Twin Cities, the 13-player Masked Accordions group will be celebrating early, on the 4th, with a concert at St. Paul's Como Lakeside Pavilion, a mile south of my home. Astonishingly, it's free! Be there at 6 for the 6:30 show -- food and drink available on site.

Better late than never, Boise's Squeeze Con will happen May 11 at the Basque Center downtown.
We'll be there.

So, this is a day to celebrate? Maybe they can combine it with Banjo Appreciation Day. 😉🪕🪗

I have posted this photo before, made in 1960. Accordion was my first instrument.

I thought you had it figured out a long time ago.

I saw a nice selection at Elderly this morning, before my tumble down the front steps (don't worry, there were no witnesses) And yes, I take pictures like this just to show you guys.

One of my favorite tunes from the Mavericks, from 1996.
Flaco sure can play.

Accordions have a place in every music room. You always need a doorstop.
Actually, being married to a Polish lady means I am exposed to accordions on a fairly regular basis. In Polish families, there are alway a few members who play at family functions and often in traditional garb. Weddings are accordion fests. They have even appeared at funerals. As long as it doesn’t slow the serving of pierogi and paczki, it’s ok by me.
