"what is your definition of collaboration? Answer: It’s editing, and changing some of the thoughts."
NO. That does not define collaboration in the specific sense. Collaboration is the process that occurs before something is finalized. This entails creating something together in the same time frame, with the mutual acknowledgment of all parties involved, not after the fact on your own. Copying and pasting and then editing the words of a published work, for example, is not a collaboration. The author has no idea you are editing or changing their words. This is appropriation, not collaboration.
Merriam-Webster defines collaboration thus: "to work jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor."
In our context, the same dictionary defines appropriation thus: "to take or make use of without authority or right."
The Moderators hope that you are able to discern the difference and follow the rules of this Board. All it takes is a simple attribution for someone else's work, posted verbatim, which we have been asking of you these many months. If you want to "make meaningful contributions to these posts beyond those of the original author," post them below the author's original text/attribution. No one has the authority or right to tamper with an author's work and then take whole or partial credit, which could potentially lead into allegations of plagiarism, copyright infringement, and unpleasant consequences.
