Good morning. It's a gray, cloudy, rain-coming morning in Brooklyn. 53° going up to about 73° this afternoon. Errands, a couple of chores, and some guitar playing later. Right now preparing breakfast for Her Grace.
On This Day:
1937 German airship Hindenburg explodes in flames at Lakehurst, New Jersey, killing 35 of the 97 on board and 1 on the ground
Hydrogen can be dangerous, kids. Be wary of blimps.
And have a good day.

Interesting you would put up a photo of exploding gas the day after Cinco de Mayo. Seems appropriate. There are several Orioles in the back this morning. Barb put oranges out for them. Coffee, I hear your voice a’callin’!

Those guys would eat you out of house and home. We chase them away. Usually all it takes is for me to put on my White Sox cap.

Good morning. The sky is sliding from black to blue and the doves have just started calling. We'll have about 60-85F, a little cooler than normal.
Choral music is more my wife's thing than mine but I enjoyed the concert we went to yesterday. There were three different chorales. One was a premier group that people come from all over the valley to sing with. The program was varied, ranging from Brahms waltzes to "Here Comes the Sun."
Enjoy your day.

Forty years ago today, Erica Jeanne Hammond was born to Elena and Bill, a healthy, beautiful baby whose long eyelashes drew admiring comments from the nurses. Right at the top of my dearest memories, ever, is wearing blue scrubs and sitting in a quiet little room at the end of a sunny hallway at Midway Hospital in St. Paul, rocking in a wicker chair with my bundle of joy, joined only by a couple of other newborn snoozers in bassinets. It had been a difficult labor, and Elena was getting some much-needed rest. Meanwhile, I was just charging up, filling my heart with happiness, dreams and hopes for our firstborn. As many of you know, Erica's life was brief -- a little over 6 years before she succumbed to brain cancer that had been diagnosed eight months earlier, but her life touched, impressed and charmed countless souls. It really seemed like she knew she had much to get done in a short time, and she was gonna go for it. And go for it she did. An enlarged print of her kindergarten photo, taken a couple months before her diagnosis, hangs next to my TV on the western wall of my living room. So whenever I watch a program, I meld with her, too. Sometimes I wince at her smile, slightly crooked, which we thought was just one of her typical wry expressions, but too soon learned that it was a sign of her tumor. Happy birthday, Erica! My mind reels at what you might be doing if you were still on this Earth, but I know you would be beloved by many. We miss you so.

ANYhoo, it's a gorgeous spring day, just like that one 40 years ago, and I am gonna make the most of it!
Appreciate the hugs, tribe. As I hasten to mention on these milestone dates, I am far from the only bereaved parent on this forum, so hearts out to you all.

This is sunny beautiful Monday here I cross the river that’s in a low flood stage and it’s not dropping rapidly like it usually does it actually staying at that level. Maybe we are slowly working our way out of a drought situation. More storms are predicted for tonight.

Hugs and warm thoughts to you, Bill. It is always a blessing to love and to have been loved.
It is a gray and cloudy day around here, but I'm in the office, so it doesn't matter. Things are a bit quieter here now that the semester has ended.
I recently changed up my exercise routine, and am already feeling stronger and more flexible. I think I could get to like this!

Good morning. In the midst of this bereavement today is Claire and my 33rd wedding anniversary. I am sorry for your loss Bill, but I am and grateful and happy on this wonderful day for my family. Claire and I are going to celebrate tonight by babysitting for the grandkids while Kelly and RJ go to a concert by someone I never heard of. Tomorrow we'll dine at Nouvelle Cuisine, our local excellent French restaurant.
Went on a mountain bike ride earlier today so I'm pleasantly tired. Got some bills to pay and some chores to attend to today before we leave for Kelly's later. Have a great day folks.

Thinking of you today Bill.
Partly cloudy now, sunny later.
Pleasant bike ride yesterday on a rail trail along the Grand River. The new bike rack performs well, although it hangs about four feet of the rear of our Chevy Traverse, producing the net vehicle footprint of a supertruck. Rail trails have subtle uphill grades, which Dawn doesn't notice with her ebike on the lowest level of assist, but my thigh muscles notice and I respond with lower gears and slower speed. At the end of our ride, I had to do a brief uphill sprint to alert Dawn that she had bypassed the turnoff to the parking lot.
Ever since retiring I have had an aversion to any kind of desk work. This morning I am stuck at a desk doing some necessary tax follow-up, church business, etc. If I am diligent I will reward myself with yard work in the afternoon.

Good morning. 48F-72F cloudy. Nice breakfast with our neighbors yesterday. That's the chef and his wife, right? Had they been to Little Oven before, and if not, what was their reax? (I'm thinking of the YouTube clip of Bourdain at Waffle House for the first time.)

The mention of Waffle House always brings to mind Jim Gaffigan's likening them to a truck stop men's room that serves waffles.
