Memorial Day. It’s about more than hot dogs.
It’s overcast and funky looking out there today. We have no plans and that’s a good thing.

Good morning. Let's honor those who died for our country. Unfortunately, it's easier to tear it down than it was to build it.

Saying prayers and thanks to those who have died defending our country. Thank you all. Off to see tide pools and more at the Seacoast Science Center. I suppose since we're going to be in NH we're in Doc's neck of the woods? It's not like it's a huge state. Oh well, next time I'll figure out how to arrange a visit.

My wordle looked almost exactly like cornflake's.
Off today. I've already walked the dog. Now I've got to work on the mower -- figure out what's making that weird noise. I cleaned out the carburetor to try to address the spewing gas. It helped a little, but the thing is going into the shop as soon as they have an opening. I have to keep it running for 5 more weeks.
I had a surprisingly good guitar morning. Sometimes the fingers and the memory still work.

Cloudy cool and breezy. I don't feel like gardening in a chilly wind so I will do a few minor indoor repairs.

A late good morning to you all. Just got back from a mountain bike excursion to the Fickett Hammock Nature Preserve. I now have my new favorite mountain bike trail. It's basically a 2.46 mile figure 8 with several short side trails. I did 10.3 miles today. Not too difficult for someone at my level. Old fart beginner. I've got reasonably good stamina from several years of road biking but the skill and bravado it takes for the trails rated moderate or expert are too much for me at this time. I'm progressing skill wise so maybe someday I'll be rocking the moderate level trails, (I doubt I'll get up to the expert level at this point in my life). At any rate the Fickett Hammock trail is perfect for me now. Good trail for birding as well. I took this picture a few weeks ago when I hiked it to scope the trail out, A pileated woodpecker. Enjoy your Memorial Day and remember those who made it possible.

Good afternoon.
49F-64F rain.
Dang! I forgot to report in this morning. We will go shopping for a few items today.
Yesterday Tyler brought a few guitars by that need neck resets. One was a Harmony Sovereign H1260 like Millring's that he wants me to guide him through the reset. The other was a Harmony H1203 OM sized Sovereign that he gave to me. I will reset the neck, it may need frets, new pin bridge and good tuners. Factory pin-less bridges always have the saddle set a bit sharp and the saddle slot can't be moved so converting it to a pin bridge just makes sense.
With all the rain the cats think it's a good day to stay inside.

Had a great time at the guitar gathering yesterday. It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Had planned to go through our storage space today but apparently some alimentary issues are preventing this from happening. So, since it's a holiday, I'll just take it easy, hang with Her Grace (mom is off to Lawn Guyland to see her parents), and give my body a rest.
Honoring all the people who gave to their country today. I just found my father's discharge certificate from the US Army, April 24, 1954, after two years of active duty and four years in the reserves. It has been hiding in my file cabinet for quite a while.
Staff Sergeant B. Gotfryd, Signal Corps, 77th Division, Fort Benning, GA, circa 1949

I'm enjoying a mini-marathon of "Bitchin' Rides" on the MotorTrend channel -- there are actually some episodes I haven't seen previously!

Back already from shopping. We made it to our first stop at Cub pharmacy when the girls called to let us know they were at our place. So we turned around and came home, now all the girls are watching Ink Masters. I kinda lost my interest for going out in the rain so I'll check the shop and then watch a movie.

Just noticed this D'Addario video about Tom Crandall's shop--it gives a very good portrait of Tom's personality and the shop itself.

Thanks, Russell, I enjoyed this video. I have so much respect for Tom.
(I also use D'Addario strings pretty exclusively after trying many others.)

If given only 1 brand for my shop it would be D'Addario strings. They pretty much cover every string one would need.
