Good morning. It's coming up on 5:00 AM. I'll be seeing an audiologist at 10:00. I've never had hearing problems before but my right ear seems to have gone AWOL, which makes it hard to follow a conversation if there's any background noise. Yesterday morning's hike was a pleasure. I saw quail, a rabbit, lovebirds and some kind of falcon. Yesterday's Wordle should get a big raspberry. "Manga"? I'd never heard of it. Enjoy your day. Wordle 1,088 4/6* ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 🟩⬜🟩🟩⬜ 🟩⬜🟩🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Good morning. Slept in as it was supposed to start raining at around midnight. Didn't happen. Now they are saying later today. Oh well, still it was nice to sleep in. I've got the Crystal River song circle this afternoon. Life goes on. Be well, be happy.

It was 45° last night. Kind of chilly but it isn’t summer yet. Lots of heat is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I am down to my last 2 Dobro thumb picks. They have a nice yellow patina since they are an estimated 56 years old. They haven’t been made since 1970. There are none like them. They have to be stamped DOBRO. I cannot find them anywhere. Any of you have a stray one in your stash?? No modern picks compare— not even the ones that resemble them. I read a steel guitar forum last night and it seems some of those guys are searching, too.

Good morning to all. Nice sunny morning here, current temperature 67° going up to around 77°. Humidity currently a comfy 58%. I like this weather and so do the guitars.
No big plans for the day other than getting my quarterly estimated tax payments expedited, some reading, guitar, figuring out dinner.
Had a nice chat on the phone yesterday with my copy editing mentor and former manager from Sports Illustrated for Kids. He is a fine guitar player and great writer, and was a big influence on me 30 years ago. It was good to reconnect.
You can hear his acoustic guitar playing on these two tracks from John Gorka's 1990 album "Land of the Bottom Line:"
That's about all I've got right now. Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning.
55F-82F cloudy growing to sunny later.
Some errands to do this morning to prepare for the girls coming to dinner this evening. Seems that if we want to see them we have to feed them so tonight it will be snow crab. Next week won't be a problem because they will all be at Uncle Bill's for the week and I and the cats will have a quiet time at home. Sitting on the couch in our underwear and scratching ourselves contently.

Nita is back from her cruise. And she just tested positive for Covid. Pissed I am. So she is isolating, I’m waiting to see if I get any symptoms. I’m sleeping in the spare bedroom, which is annoying. I picked her up from the boat on Sunday, heading to Kaiser this am to get her meds. Unfortunately I was nor able to see Doc Froon on the way up as I hoped, as she took the train up to Seattle. I did get to see my brother and sis-in-law, for the first time in a couple of years. So that was nice.

My introduction to John Gorka was a NPR interview at the time Land of the Bottom Line came out. It remains a brilliant album. As well as being an incredible songwriter and capable guitarist, he surrounds himself with other incredible musicians.
Another glorious sunny day. More carpentry today, cutting up plywood in the garage whilst Dawn is doing desk work, ripping cuts on the tablesaw when she is out visiting clients.

Yesterday's Wordle should get a big raspberry. "Manga"? I'd never heard of it. As you’ve probably learned, it’s related to images and films using those large eyed characters seen in Japanese comic books and cartoons. We’ve learned the word because it shows up in the NYT crossword. Fiddlerina usually does the Wordle but yesterday she was down to guess six and asked me for advice. She knew Manga was a possibility. I suggested ganja because the crossword sometimes uses pot references. She thought it over and decided to go with manga.

I'm a little jealous today, my daughter is in Switzerland this morning, on a work trip, visiting customers. She'll hit 4 or 5 countries in Europe and have a little vacation time before returning home.
International customer visits were always a favorite of mine. I got to go places and see things I would have never seen or gone as a tourist, oh the memories.

Dub, “ganja” was my final guess. Wordle should not use borrowed foreign words.

Yesterday's Wordle should get a big raspberry. "Manga"? I'd never heard of it. Obviously, you're not one of those shady disreputable parents who let their kids read comic books growing up...

I just put out a bag full of cans for recycling. The bag has a sticker on it for the school account of my neighbor girl: She is collecting cans (Oregon has 10 cent per can deposit) for her middle school sport dance club. I like this more than buying cookies or crappy pepperoni sticks for fund raising.
Lately I am in a holding phase with work/retirement. Though I am not taking new clients, pre-existing clients periodically call me for work. I would prefer to just pass it to the firm with which I negotiated a sale of my law practice, but it has not yet signed my proposed sale agreement.
