Good morning. I'm up and getting ready for a trip to the urologist to get my balky prostate checked out. Hopefully it's just an enlarged prostate controllable by medication and not a return of the cancer. We'll see. After that it's a day of rest getting ready for tomorrow's 30+ mile bike ride with the Swamp Mountain Bike Club folks. Have a great day folks. Might your issues be related to your recent increase in cycling miles? You have probably already considered it, but an investigation of some better bike saddles might be in order. Just got back from the Urologist. They don't think it's the bike or a recurrence of the cancer though I'm taking a psa test. I've had recurring swelling problems with the prostate. 12 years ago, I had to get the tubes reamed out. That experience sucked, completely. They think the most likely situation is that that procedure usually wears off after about 10 years, so I'll probably have to go through it again. Ugh.........Meanwhile we'll try a cystoscopy (those suck too) and some medication. Enough wining, on with the day.

Summer berries. I’m off for some Hoods this morning. A bit spendy but delish. We are in a holding pattern here. This is the second bought of Covid fir Anita, and although she doesn’t feel too bad, (the symptoms this time are that of a moderate cold) she doesn’t seem to be kicking it as fast as she did last time. I still have no symptoms, hope to keep it that way. It is a pain to try to keep our distance, masking, etc.
Sunny this am, lo 70’s today, rain comes back tommorrow.
Mike

Her Grace just returned from the English Regents exam.
"It was easy," she said. "One of the questions was 'What's the definition of divergent'?"
Now, lunch.

Another pleasant, 79 F weather day. Some negotiating on a business sale agreement, chatting with my client's investigator about his lack of progress, banking and then grocery shopping.

This might sound like a joke, but, apparently it isn't. Don't get wife-cozy or whack off for at least 48 hours before your PSA test as it can cause elevated readings.

DaWife is barely able to get work done for all the calls and emails from fellow workers and investigators from other banks wishing her well on her retirement.

In his mind the sun is always setting. It has become hard for him to enjoy any of a day's light since he realized that morning just marks the beginning of another ending day. Anxiety sets in long before the shadows grow taller than the trees that cast them. And as the sun falls closer and closer to the western horizon he laces up his running shoes. The very instant the faintest red-orange of sun is no longer visible, he will turn to the east and begin to run. Alternately adrenalin-crazed and sprinting, and then more sensibly pacing (realizing the long run ahead) until again in the grip of fear, he madly begins to dash again ... until he simply cannot do so anymore. Erratically he trips this way through the night to meet the sun coming over the eastern horizon. He has never once made a meaningful dent in the length of the night. No matter how sincerely and earnestly he races through the dark, he has never caused the sun to hurry up. He is tired. So tired. But today is another day. And he is learning. This afternoon he will leave earlier.

I am at the endodontist waiting to get numb enough for a root ca@nal. Home, still numb. I think root canal is something endodontists have gotten better at since I started hearing about them in the days of "lots of whiskey and your strongest friends to hold you down". You know, the 1970's. No big deal, just long. It was a serious challenge to my gag reflex, though. The endo doc says I'll need to replace that crown. I hope that molar can hang in for the duration. My duration, I mean.

Had a six-month melanoma check today, and as usual, the dermatologist checked virtually every square inch of my person (is there such a thing as butt cancer?). She found two wee spots that merited being sent off for biopsies, so I shall await those outcomes, but she didn't seem terribly concerned.

She had the bad timing to die on the same day as Michael Jackson so didn't get the attention she might have deserved. Best of luck on your biopsies.

Here I am about ten feet away from Farrah Fawcett, in Soho, NY, October 2000. I was hoping she didn't see me.

Seconds later Farrah was heard to exclaim "Hey, wasn't that Howard?"
