Good morning. Up early to head out to do some volunteer work with the Florida Scrub Jay survey. That's going to occupy me for the next 3 to 5 days depending on the weather. We'll see. Have a great day folks.

Good morning. I have to spend sometime on a dispute that has arisen with some neighbors over the flood irrigation system. It's the first time we've had any major friction in the neighborhood in the 36 years we've been here. My years of litigating have made me very conflict-averse. I'm even more averse to conflict with people we'll see every day. But sometimes trouble finds you even if you weren't looking for it. The only bright side is that the issues are pretty interesting.
It'll be a seasonably too-hot day here. Enjoy yours.

We're in for a hot and sticky spell, but it's pleasant right now, mid-60s and sunny.
I had the coolest thing happen overnight. On my obligatory mid-slumber bathroom visit, I noticed a 6-inch-wide "sidewalk" of soft white light on the hardwood floor, extending diagonally from southeast to northwest. Turns out the shape of the "sidewalk" was created by the beveled walls of the alcove entry, and the light source was a super-bright full moon, projecting through the picture window in the living room.
Probably happens often, but it was a delightful surprise for me.

Up at the crack of dawn to 90 degree heat this morning. Welcome to summer in AZ. Where the heat persists all night long.
Walk the dogs and a visit to the barbershop. I’ve been working on a new tune for our upcoming gig. “Gentle On My Mind” by John Hartford. The song is seriously addictive.

Jeez. I mentioned our irrigation issues. Sometime late yesterday, someone stole the gate that has to be inserted for the people on the east side of our block to get irrigation. We think we know who and why but there's no evidence. The main concern is that we irrigate late this afternoon and we and our neighbors can't get any water unless we can get a replacement gate. We ought to be able to address our differences without acting like second-graders.
Or maybe not. Congress can't.

Pleasant sunny morning. Might get uncomfortably warm but not beastly hot.
Trying to get motivated for the main activity of the day -- cleaning my van, which I do once a year whether it needs it or not.

Morning!
Rainy morning. I'm going to play a couple games of Gin Rummy with my daughter, Anna Claire (Care Bear), who's up visiting. Took two out of three from her last night. No Mercy. She might be my darling daughter, but Gin Rummy is Gin Rummy!

[...] I’ve been working on a new tune for our upcoming gig. “Gentle On My Mind” by John Hartford. The song is seriously addictive.
I remember that Marshall expressed a dislike for this cover by Molly Tuttle once, when I posted it. He wrote that he didn't have the feeling a young 20-something woman could "sell" this song about a man on the bum. That part of it didn't bother me so much because she is a brilliant musician who surrounds herself with brilliant musicians. Believable or not, I hope you enjoy this. Bonus in this video: Missy Raines on bass.
Locally, it is cooler and sunny in Brooklyn this morning. Currently 81°, a high of 84° predicted around 1:00 pm.
Laundry beckons, maybe some grocery shopping, guitar.

She would be the first to tell you that she doesn't handle conflict well. She wants me to do the communicating.

Good morning. I completed a 26 mile bike ride this morning and now I'm back home and ready for more coffee.
Still lots of gnats on the trail, but I did see a beautiful big deer, a doe, she crossed the trail about 25 feet in front of me.

Off to a camping rally in Silverton today.
Yesterday we went to see “A GirlFrom the North Country” one of the Broadway series at the Keller. Music by Dylan. I was thinking about Mike G and just broke down during Long train coming.
That’s all I got.

No laundry today. Wife beat me to it, needs the drying rack. I will postpone.
Her Grace just returned from taking her statewide Regents exam in French—and in good spirits. I went out earlier to acquire a Nutella-filled doughnut for a treat when she returned.
Finished the Sam Fuller memoir. Fellow had quite the life. Now on to something else. And some guitar.

After a massive amount of work we have cleaned out Pat’s storage garage of unsold “treasures” from her many years as an antique dealer and frequenting auctions and estate sales. It was a feat on par with the cleansing of the Augean Stables. We are ready for the mother of all garage sales Friday and Saturday. Ads placed, signs made, and flyers distributed. Whatever does not sell is headed to the dump.

Some interesting-looking stuff there. Too bad our house is full. Thanks to garage sales and antique store visits.

Terry, is there anything I could buy for $15 that Antiques Roadshow would tell me was worth hundreds of thousands?
