After a massive amount of work we have cleaned out Pat’s storage garage of unsold “treasures” from her many years as an antique dealer and frequenting auctions and estate sales. It was a feat on par with the cleansing of the Augean Stables. We are ready for the mother of all garage sales Friday and Saturday. Ads placed, signs made, and flyers distributed. Whatever does not sell is headed to the dump. Nice old cabinet makers bench under those wash tubs and what may be a couch table almost dead center of the photo.

Here’s the bench. It’ll sell fast. It’s too heavy for us to haul down to the store. There are a few really nice items and a lot of junk.

Walk the dogs and a visit to the barbershop. I’ve been working on a new tune for our upcoming gig. “Gentle On My Mind” by John Hartford. The song is seriously addictive. I'd be curious what you came up with. When I was a kid I first learned it out of C fingering. Then, at the point in my life when I was playing a bit of banjo I refigured it in G fingering. But the last way I saw some YouTube it was in D. Each way had something going for it. I've been teaching myself to play Summertime Blues. It has occurred to me more than once that I know few fun songs. I'm a sucker for the beautiful ballad. Playing the simple fun song is harder than I had imagined.

That is a terrific song. I also learned it in G on a banjo. I thought it would be a good number for our group but for some reason we never performed it.
