Good morning. I've got some errands to run this morning and the Crystal River song circle this afternoon. Looks like rain later today. Somewhere in there I'll try to squeeze in a bike ride. Have a great day folks.

Good morning. There's a light agenda today. A handyman is coming at 8:00 to fix a broken gate. At 2:00 an old friend will come over for coffee. This evening we'll catch up with younger daughter over the phone.
Enjoy your day.

I see that three of us started daily threads at just about the same time. It's easy enough to fix.

No PT today. Just lots of icing, and I don’t mean on cake. Lots of coffee, too. Hang loose and be in tune.

Good morning. This year progresses quickly, doesn't it? Some bill paying and that Shiva call to pay today. Not much more scheduled. This visit will bring me back to my father's old neighborhood for the first time in quite a few years. I haven't seen the old home place since 2020 or thereabouts, when we did a drive-by to gauge the buyer's renovation progress. I don't miss it. Wishing everyone a good day.

That's your dad's house, rather than one you might have grown up in, isn't it? When I visit my hometown I will usually drive by the houses I lived in with my parents. Houses where they lived, but I did not, don't hold much appeal for me.

Houses where they lived, but I did not, don't hold much appeal for me.
I grew up in southeastern Queens. My parents bought this house in 1972, when crime began to get worse in our neighborhood (two burglaries, me getting mugged at knife-point on the corner of our street) and I was going into my first year of college. I lived there for about 15 months and then moved out, worked part time, schooled part time, and kept my own studio apartment. 2600 square feet wasn't big enough for the old man and me to be under the same roof. I came back for two years after my kid sister died, in 1977, and then moved 190 miles away for a year. In 1980 I came back to New York but never lived in that house again. My father was there for 44 years, my mother for 34.
It was his trophy house—even after my mom died, and he started to slip, he wasn't interested in purchasing a town house with us, here in our neighborhood (a nice 1910 limestone one was for sale in the early 2010s, pictured)
in which he could have lived without worry and with family just upstairs. He refused to leave Forest Hills, even though he was quite alone and didn't see friends very often.
Every time I walk past this house I kick my self for not being more insistent at the time it was for sale. We could have afforded it together. Last year, it sold for $3.2 million.

I avoid all remnants of the past. If I did that, we never would have met in person. I only say this because I am many miles away at the moment, and with your PT schedule I can probably outrun you.

Cloudy, a little cool, might rain.
Cleaning out the interior of my van this morning, which I do about once a year whether it needs it or not. Followed by yard work if it's not raining, workshop time if it is raining. Planning on a vegetarian Lebanese cous-cous concoction for dinner.

Good morning.
58F-79F cloudy.
Clients at 11:00 and then probably a lazy day of puttering around the shop. DaWife is at the Doc's for routine stuff. The office is right near Roseville Mall, Hammondland, so she will probably come home with a few bags of things. Later today she will go through her closet and get rid of 35 years worth of work clothing. Which is about 60% of that closet. Plenty of room then for all her new retirement clothing.

My wife's ancestors once owned a big chunk of what is now midtown Phoenix. If they'd held onto it, I'd be waving hello from the window of my Learjet.

That is a pretty cool looking house that your father lived in for so long, Howard. How far from you is it?
My brother-in-law, heading home from some student geology camp in Utah to back home in Connecticut, stopped by yesterday. It had been several years. We went on a several mile walk down the nature trail, had a beer, ate some bbq pork I made, and we chatted for a long time. We hadn't seen each other for a while and it was good to see him.

It's about a 40-minute drive, or 90 minutes door to door using mass transit.

I see that epaul is not awake yet. Perhaps a long evening with the Maki boys?
I have bills to get out and a grandson to watch.

Well I just had a fantastic sandwich. Erin found the recipe. - Sourdough bread, toasted
- Garlic mayo (mayo with some garlic stirred in)
- Baby spinach/arugula blend
- Really ripe tomato slices
- Prosciutto slices
- Eggs sunnyside
