Good morning. It's 85 now, going up to ugly hot later. My wife and I will go to the public library this morning. We're planning a trip to California in October to see some of the national parks and our younger daughter. I'll get some travel guides at the library to assist in my planning.
That's about it. Enjoy your day.

Good morning. My dog Dax is very relieved the fireworks are over. They went on till past one last night.
Nothing much on the books for today. I'll try to squeeze in a bike ride between rain storms.
Have a great day.

Rain is washing the gunpowder smoke from the air. 82,738,456 fireworks went off last night. I know because I counted the explosions. I could be off by 4 or 5. Have fun today.

Just sitting down with coffee. Someone left our freezer door open last night, all night. Things defrosted. Damn.
No one will admit to it. Her Grace and I will be baking a fresh challah later.
Here's a photo of her first driving lesson I found in our Photo app. She still hasn't gotten her license.
Lots of rain on the way to New York. Wishing all a good day. Stay safe on the roads.

No one will admit to it. It doesn’t matter who did it. Accidents happen. Maybe it was YOU!

Hey LJ, is the guitar in your profile pic one of yours? Yes. Martin CEO-5. Bear claw spruce top, 12 fret slot head. They made about 230 of them. Mine is #60.

I made midwestern chili and beans for dinner last night. I used onions, tomatoes and beans, none of which go in the Texas chili I grew up with. The result was very good. I hereby renounce chili snobbery forever.

Someone left our freezer door open one night. It wasn’t me and Barb says it wasn’t her. We figure someone sneaked in at night while we were sleeping, opened the freezer to eat our premium ice cream, and then left it open when they left. Probably on purpose. Surveillance videos don’t show anything but that just shows how clever the perpetrator was in covering his/her tracks. It is still under investigation.

Hoping for a little un-rainy periods today to get everyone outside including the dogs. Following the Tour, big time trial today. Most likely Pogacar will consolidate his lead. Good race so far.
Can’t believe how fast it’s gotten. Sprinters teams are ramping the pace to 35mph 10K from the finish.

Good morning
61F-77F cloudy.
The street was a haze of smoke last night and Saint Paul's Eastside sounded like WWIII. The Police started cruising the streets around midnight to give people the hint that it was time to shut down. Somebody a few doors down had some BIG stuff to shoot off, like full 6" mortar shells and full blown rockets which could also be why the cops came by. We are under the takeoff path for St Paul airport just across the river. Riley was fine once indoors but Simon hugged my lap until things settled down.

Morning!
Hell Night is over. Woke up this morning and saw a calm and relaxed dog sleeping at the foot of our bed. All is as it should be once again.

Cool, almost chilly this morning.
Outdoor gig this evening, supposed to be 72 - 75 degrees. That will be perfect, if it don't rain.

Some biting bugs, mosquitoes or fleas, got to my legs. Hot temps and bug bites are a potent combination.
Coffee, office work, and air conditioning are all that are planned for the day.

Years ago my first father-in-law was digging through their freezer for something to take on their weeklong camping trip. To get to whatever he wanted he took out a bag of frozen chicken and set it out on the floor. He forgot to put it back in the freezer. A few days later first wife and I went over take in their mail and check on things. The stench of rotten, unrecognizable chicken was overwhelming. The house was full of huge satiated black flies. The rotten chicken and the carpet around the freezer was covered with thousands of squirming rice-like maggots. Maggots in massive quantities make a very loud crackling sound. The extermination/fumigation of the house was not a simple or cheap process. Carpet and drapes were replaced and upholstered furniture professionally cleaned. Oh, and the chicken had to be replaced. Howard, LJ, you got off easy, whatever food you lost.

This week's challah is in the oven. I am acquiring some good baking tips from Her Grace. Enjoying this dad/daughter activity.
Rob Hanesworth We did get off easy. Nothing rotted, nothing spoiled. Just the ice cubes in the bin fused together. Not a problem. Maggots are good to apply to a deep flesh wound when you have no antiseptic.

Our ice cream melted. With today’s winnings, I can finally afford to replace it. Ben & Jerry time!
