I just spent 4-5 hours going over every square interior and exterior square inch of the Wrangler I rented. It was good of my co-worker to help me out of the jam I was in by letting me use her Jeep, but it's costing me dearly. Tomorrow it goes to the local vinyl wrap guys to replace the wrap on the door. A heavy lidded mailbox tore right through the vinyl. $398 to repair it. Ouch.
Why don't car manufacturers make the interiors easier to clean? The carpets attract stuff and going over and over and over with a powerful shop vac STILL doesn't get it unstuck from the carpet. And there are more nooks and krannies to clean in and around. Does everyone just have their cars professionally detailed now?

First thing I get for a new to me car: Weathertech. You can get factory-fit mats for most cars by year and model. I love them. For snow and slush country, they can't be beat. They probably have a selection of generic fits for car models they no longer have custom fits for. (I understand this won't help your current situation, at this point, only some type of alcohol will. This is posted solely as a possible future help for a general audience)

I just took out the weathertech matts from the jeep and soaked them for four hours in the wading pool. Then I scrubbed em, dried em, armoralled em, and popped em back in. The carpet beneath was fairly pristine.

Actually, they just lend their cars to you for a week or so and they come back better than when they were lent. Back when they were still in production I really, really wanted a Honda Element. They were built so the interiors could be cleaned with a hose (and water and stuff).

Then I scrubbed em, dried em, armoralled em, and popped em back in. Armor All makes them look really nice and black, but also makes them very slippery underfoot.

They had to be converted, but they had a pretty good cargo space and they didn't rust out.

Excellent F1 race, exciting Indycar race, enjoyable golf ongoing, Chicago NASCAR race upcoming, and somehow I managed an hour away to make a Trader Joe's run. And 25-year-old Davis Thompson gets his first PGA win, playing with amazing skill.
