Good morning.
60F-83F sunny.
Yard guys will be here shortly to cut down that jungle we call a backyard. Once that is done a regular weekly mowing should keep it decent. Though we would get a jump on the City and do it before they noticed and gave us a warning, and they will.

Good morning. Breakfast for the offspring and me has been achieved. I have been making these little health shakes this week, with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, some fat-free plain yogurt, protein powder, a splash of milk, and this morning I added some almond extract. Fills and nourishes without much carbohydrate content.
Much cooler in New York this morning! We slept with the windows open last night and it was comfortable enough. Currently 73° with low humidity; hitting 85° this afternoon. Not too shabby.
Hair appointment later. Just checked a volume of Robert Caro's biography of Lyndon Johnson out of the library yesterday and started reading it—"The Years of Lyndon Johnson: Means of Ascent." It's Volume 2 but I couldn't find Volume 1, so... it deals with the period in which I am most interested anyway. Between his writing style and the late Robert Gottlieb's editing, it is eminently readable and engrossing already.
I hope things have cooled down for everyone across the continent. Have a great one.

Morning!
Just got a welcome early morning rain, .5".
It came out of nowhere. Radar showed a clear sky, then a little green turning to yellow dot developed right over Grand Forks. Five or six miles out of town in any direction, nothing. Our own private little rain developed right over our heads.
Well, I suppose all rains have to start somewhere, and this one started in Grand Forks. It then rolled off towards Barnsville and fell apart at the walls of Fergus.
Back to blue skies across the region.

Another gig under our belt. Yesterday's show went quite well and given that all the snowbirds are gone for the summer, a pretty good turnout. We have developed a bit of a fan club who always show up.
Today we'll visit my mother, who now resides in the care center at Royal Oaks. Since her visit to the hospital a few weeks ago, she is unable to move back to her old assisted living apartment. After a couple weeks there though she is settling in. She gets tons of hands on care, so she's beginning to appreciate how much of a help that is. We need to arrange to have some of her stuff moved from her old assisted living apartment to her new home.

I was at the door of Hall Bicycle, in Cedar Rapids, when they opened at 10:00 this morning. They convinced me that I hadn't done anything wrong that would have caused my broken spokes. Their explanation was basically, "shit happen", especially with spokes.
Nice people, their current backlog is 5 days, but they said they would work it in sooner than that since it's a little job.
Stopped at Hy Vee on my way home for sweet corn and bananas and was home at 10:40, not bad.

Good morning. The cable guy is here trying to get our wifi up and running. Hopefully he'll be successful. We'll see....
After that I've got a new shower head to install, guitars to play and bikes to ride. Have a great day folks.

If you are going to scale the highest point in Indiana don't forget your supplemental oxygen.

"If you are going to scale the highest point in Indiana don't forget your supplemental oxygen." —Rob
When I was 14 years old at summer camp, we climbed Mount Marcy, the tallest peak in the Keene Valley of the Adirondack Mountains, while scouting fallen red spruce for guitar tops.
Mount Marcy has an elevation of 5,343.1 feet (1,628.6 m). To our credit, we climbed up the side of the peak known as "The Backbreaker." Such happy memories of my misspent youth.

The highest I have ever been, with my feet touching the ground, was 12,500 ft. in Ecuador, but I didn't climb to there. I rode a bus.

I slammed my finger in the sliding door of my mail truck today. Ouch. It's bloody and bruised but doesn't keep me from the guitar.

If you are going to scale the highest point in Indiana don't forget your supplemental oxygen. I’m sorry. That should read ‘ least low point.’
