Mark Kelly would be a great choice.

For the first time in a while, I’m optimistic. If Harris doesn’t screw up I think she’ll win this thing. Of course, she may screw up.

Trump probably has it if he can keep his mouth shut and fake a little empathy but he’s not off to a good start in that department.

Nikki Haley’s argument was that Trump couldn’t win a general election because too many people dislike him. that assumes there is an acceptable alternative. Harris will have to show that she is one.

I think she will get a "Thank GAWD" relief bounce and do better than people think. I tend to agree, plus she will attract black voters, Asian voters and the pro-choice bloc. I think her age, 59, is just about perfect to ease everyone's minds.

I think that once people realize she's never won an election of any sort, hasn't actually accomplished anything of note in her 4 years of the Vice Presidency, and is possibly the most naturally inarticulate person in national politics she'll fade fast and probably be replaced at the convention.

?
- Harris was elected twice to serve as Attorney General of California. Granted, that isn't as challenging or competitive an election to win as, oh, say, the election to become Attorney General of North Dakota (that is task and a half, let me tell you. Cutthroat).
- Harris was elected to serve as a United States Senator representing the State of California. Again, that's just California, not the mountain to climb a North Dakota Senate election is. But, a Senate race is a Senate race, even if it is only in California (representing 40 million people and the fourth largest economic power on the planet).
- VP's aren't there to accomplish. They are there to be at the ready. She is at the ready it appears.
(oh, I forgot, you might be thinking about the role of a MAGA vice president, which is to over-turn elections (a task the now disgraced by MAGA former VP Mike Pence failed miserably at, may he continue to avoid the MAGA gallows)

I said before, that if either the dems or the GOP replaced their aging white dude with someone younger and fresher, they’d win. I do wonder if the dems set this up to happen, which would be somewhat machiavellian, but hey, it’s politics. They get the bump from doing it now, and the GOP, even if they wanted to change, can’t.
What the dems need to do is come out hard. Like, as in first not stabbing themselves in the back by getting into a massive argument. They need a process that looks clean. The convention needs to be a spectacle — whomever is chosen, and I’d assume its Harris’ position to lose, needs to step out swinging. This has completely overturned the, “the dems guy is too old to be prez.” The old guy is now Trump — I’ll bet a few bucks that that gets mentioned, oh, about 5 million times. They are going to come out hard on reproductive rights. Trump will provide the usual ammunition.
Folding chair is set out, popcorn in hand, cooler full of refreshments prepared. This all got to much more interesting.

I see the Obamas are hedging and being a little vague and coy about endorsing Kamala. I wonder if he's trying to talk Michelle in or out of running?

The Democrats have already said more times than that that Trump is now the oldest person ever nominated for president by a major party. And in only 24 hours.

Not content with digs at her articulacy or work ethic and with "DEI hire" sounding ever more like a way of swerving use of the n-word, odious Christian nationalist and bigot, Sebastian Gorka tells Newsmax viewers that Harris "very well might be the first DEI President". Sounds like he assumes she's gonna be elected.

I see that Truth Social has already quashed that rumor, saying "forget that nonsense. #1 Both Obama's are Muslim and #2 weren't even born on this planet." Confirmed by NewsMax.

I see Pelosi just endorsed Harris so as regards Michelle Obama apparently no really meant no. But I bet she was asked!

I don't know if any of the rest of you read Michelle's autobiography. It's a very good book. I think her desire to run for president is below zero.

I'm not sure Harris is the best move for the Dems. I think any candidate they pick will get a bump in the polls initially; that seems to be the nature of poll results. Long-term, though, I don't get the feeling that she has generated any real enthusiasm amongst her own party, and I'm pretty sure she generates little enthusiasm amongst the non-committed voters. Plus, I suspect her candidacy would energize certain elements of the Trump constituency to get out and vote in larger numbers.
But what do I know?
