Good morning. We'll have about 89 to 112 degrees today. I'll have my weekly Zoom breakfast and my usual trip to buy groceries. Nothing exciting to share.
Enjoy your day.

Wordled in 3. Off today. I've been lucky for several weeks. I've been allowed to work my off day for overtime. But yesterday a couple of other regulars complained that I get the overtime and they want it too. I'll probably only be allowed every third overtime day.
Home Internet is down. A tech is supposed to be here any minute.

3 more PT sessions and that phase is over. Tomorrow, then Monday & Wednesday next week. The therapist says she will have a package of exercises for me to do at home & Barb will see that I do them. No rest for me! Today, though, is one to relax. Yay!

Good morning.
57F-82F sunny.
A little shop time, some errands and a nap. One of those errands will be a short visit to Willie's American Guitars.

Morning!
Singing at a funeral, then off to the Fair to grab a couple corndogs and see how my lily did. I'm expecting great things. From both.

Well, hello there.
Warm and humid in Brooklyn this morning. My daughter has a friend from middle school staying with us for a few days. Her family moved upstate during the pandemic and stayed, so the girls don't get to see each other too often. This is wonderful because they are getting out of the apartment and doing things together, rather than just sit around staring at cell phones. And she is a gracious guest.
Also:
On this Day: Rosalind Franklin is born: July 25, 1920 in Notting Hill, London, England
"Rosalind Franklin made important discoveries about the structures of DNA, RNA, viruses, coal, and graphite. She has more recently been credited for the key role that she played in discovering the structure of DNA.
Franklin was born in 1920 in London where she excelled as a student. She went on to study at Newnham College, Cambridge, and received her PhD in 1945.
In 1947, Franklin worked in Paris and specialised in X-ray crystallography. In 1951, she started working on DNA at King's College London. Her X-ray images, particularly Photo 51, helped show the shape of DNA.
Francis Crick and James Watson used Franklin's work to make their model of DNA's structure. They have been criticised, however, for failing to credit her essential role in this discovery.
In 1953, Franklin moved to Birkbeck College where she conducted important research on the shapes of viruses, like the tobacco mosaic virus. Unfortunately would die of cancer when she was only 37 years old."

Good morning. Yesterday was a struggle. We got new phones and it took all day to figure out how to get them up and running and all our data transferred from the old phones. Fortunately we got it done but that project basically blew the rest of the days plans out of the window. Playing a bit of catch up today, not really a big deal, just a pain in the ass. I went early for my daily bike ride, this afternoon I've got an appointment with the vein doctor for my varicose veins. Just my opinion, of course. I avoided compression socks for many years but my restless legs got so annoying I started wearing them a few months back. I found some pretty stylish ones on Amazon in the 20-30 compression range and they are not bad at all. A bit harder to put on and take off but not all that bad. They help with the restless legs but don't get rid of the symptoms completely, hence the vein doctor visit. We'll see how that plays out...... Have a great day folks.

My great-grandfather Oscar Oberg, great-grandmother Signe, and either my grandmother or her sister, in front of Oscar's store in Chicago. Given the size of the girl I'm assuming this picture is from the mid- to late-teens of the last century. I'd like to think Marshall's relatives might have shopped there. I assume the Swedes all stuck together, but maybe not.

Where was the joint?
My Swedish side didnβt live in the Andersonville neighborhood near Swedish Covenant Hospital. For some reason they lived more west in the city.

Morning. Cooled off in to the 80's. Lot of thunder and lightning last night so watching to see if we have fire starts locally today and tomorrow. Likely we will.

For some reason they lived more west in the city. 7046 Stony Island Avenue, which I think is now 7046 1600 E. From what Google Maps shows me, a vacant lot. They lived around the corner at 1468 E 70th St., so not that far (relatively) from the Museum of Science and Industry.

Compression socks donβt have to be troublesome to put on or wear. I started wearing compression socks eighteen years ago on the advice of my doctor. I was having some ankle swelling that she thought was edema. Iβve seen older people whose ankles looked like they were falling down over the tops of their shoes and I didnβt want to become one of those. My doctor recommendedβwrote me a prescriptionβsome very heavy stockings in a pink-orange color like the color of βskin toneβ Band-Aids. They looked stupid, were hard to put on, and wouldnβt stay up, but at least they cost $80 or so. One day I noticed that Wal Mart had a rack of compression socks so I bought a pair to try. They looked better and were more comfortable but wouldnβt stay up either. Eventually I chanced upon a brand called Skin-eez. They are wonderful, as compression socks go. They go on easily, feel good to wear, and go up past your calf so they stay up. I have some Iβve now worn for years and they still work as good as new. They are touted for a lot of features that mean nothing to me, skin care and such, but I just pretend they arenβt advertised that way. I wear them every day. I buy the black ones but color doesnβt matter too much as I wear a light pair of regular socks over them. Without the regular socks they look like menβs formal hosiery so nothing really odd about them. The fabric is thin and seems to breathe. They have models with different compression ranges so they donβt need to be tighter than need. I recommend these very highly for anyone needing compression socks. www.myskineez.com/collections/compression-socks

I got my repaired bicycle wheel back yesterday, it had two broken spokes replaced and needed to be trued. The bike shop said I didn't need a new tire.
I got in a 26 mile ride this morning and everything worked good. On my ride I stopped and picked about a half gallon of blackberries, I've got enough now to make my blackberry syrup.
