Password PSA

For awhile now at both this site and AGF at log in I've been getting "this password is common and easily guessed" prompt to revise it to something better. Been blowing that off and at AGF just got permanently banned a few days ago with the message"SUSPECTED ACCOUNT HACK". A Google search by my old user name tells me that someone listed 2 guitars for sale over there that wasn't me. I sure hope the mods got that figured out and no one lost money.

So today after several attempts I beefed up my password here at Soundhole. Much to my dismay 1Big$exy was already in use. As was NDfarmer$tud

I have long advised everyone here to use a password manager. They are cheap compared to potential loss and damage due to hacking.

With a password manager you don’t have to remember, or even know your passwords. The generation and submission of passwords is handled for you. Logins become almost automatic and far more secure.

Here is an example of the sort of passwords I use. 8b64@mSw&B9#$R&2GtDu

Twenty characters (or more) long with nothing that could be guessed or computed. I’m not required to know what they are.

That's odd. The password example you listed is my son's middle name.

Well, I had a perfectly good password that I used for everything, but someone had to go and ruin it.
