Good morning. It'll be very hot today. We'll attend the eight o'clock church service. This afternoon we'll take our son to meet his new nephew.
Peace.

Good morning. The storms track has shifted west so we'll be getting a lot of rain but not much else. I'll be taking it slow today.
Have good ones.

Eric and I don’t have another gig until the end of Sept. so today we’ll try to record a couple of the new tunes. JJ. Cale’s “Call Me the Breeze” J. Croce’s “New York’s Not My Home”

I've got a load of wash going right now, after I hang it out to dry it's out to a walking trail and then to Waterloo for some grocery shopping; I ran out of time for that yesterday. Exciting day!

Our church is back to it's regular schedule today after only having one service in June and July. So we'll be attending the 10:45 service. Choir rehearsals start on Thursday, but we don't sing at a service until September. I took a look at the song list on Google Drive and it's almost all music that we've never done. That should be interesting.
Supposed to hit 107 in Tucson today. But not as bad as Phoenix at 114 and where it's already 100 according to the NWS. We are only at 85 at 8:30 AM, so our walk this morning wasn't too bad.

Just back from a hangar breakfast at Red Wing Municipal Airport in Bay City, hard by the Mississippi in the northern reaches of the Driftless Area, gorgeous bluff country. Interestingly, Red Wing, a sweet river town, is in Minnesota, but its airport is on the Wisconsin side of the river. Lots of cool aircraft on hand, the EAA fundraiser breakfast was tasty and it was fun to chat with some dudes who flew in. I also got followed by one of these for a few miles on the way in -- talk about a spaceshippy car. (It's a Lucid Air, dumb name.)

Drinking coffee and being lazy this morning.
We had a great time at our Brandon gig yesterday, absolutely perfect weather, good crowd of friendly folks.
Then, last night I went to Urbana, it was also their town celebration weekend. I wanted to hear the Schmidt Brothers band, a trio of local guys.
I got there a little after 8:00, stage and sound system was set up but no music. Ran into a friend who said they had technical issues and music would start soon.
The technical issue was that there wasn't a power source there that could provide enough current for their sound system. After hearing that and looking at their banks of speakers I didn't think I'd be staying long.
The "music" started, drums, electric guitar and electric bass. The performance started with some rock song that only had three word, which they repeated for four minutes before launching into their second number.
That was enough, I already had a headache from the insane volume. Back to my car, home and a nice quiet evening.

68 degrees at noon. The heat wave has broken. We will have a nice week coming up of highs not breaking out of the 70s. Ahhhh...

Eric and I recorded this morning. We decided against New York's Not My Home". It just wasn't working for me.
But we did get an acceptable take of J.J. Cale's "Call Me the Breeze"

(As always) That guitar is the one you seem to use most often over the years. It looks to me like a Godin Doyle Dykes Multiac Steel, is that right? Why is that the one you gravitate to most often? Also, what is the amp you’re playing through? Is it always the same amp or do you switch around?

Marty, I hope you are feeling better soon.
I am just back from the beach. The drive to and from in my new to me 2023 Ridgeline was very nice. It handles much better than my 2008 4Runner. I hope it needs as little mechanical attention.
I like that it has adaptive cruise control and safety features of lane change warning system and automatic emergency braking. My theory is that the older I get, the more safety features I should have.
I spent about 5 hours painting our fence yesterday. I did not enjoy it, but the outside is now done.

It is exceptionally easy to play everywhere on the neck and I really like the sound from the pickup system. The thin body makes it very comfortable to play. The other guitar record with is a National El Trovodor. The amp is actually a JBL MK2 portable PA system. JBL MK2 portable PA
