Good morning. Up and at 'em. It'll be a mild day here by summer standards.
Yesterday we passed our interview for adopting a lab. Now we'll get emails twice a week with photos and descriptions of available dogs. If we see one we like, we'll talk to whoever is providing foster care for the dog about its temperament and behavior. If we get past that, the dog will be brought to our home for a visit. It's a pretty complicated procedure but that's appropriate.
A tech from Best Buy will be coming by to fix a few glitches in my wife's computer and mine. That's our only plan. Enjoy your day.

Good morning. Labs are the best, I've got to take the new street bike into the shop today. I screwed up. The only thing I didn't like about the bike was it had a cheap kickstand. I bought a better one on Amazon and installed it. Unfortunately I didn't realize that I had pinched the cable for the rear wheel derailer under the kickstand mounting plate. Couldn't shift gears. I figured it out and freed the cable but the shifting is off so into the shop it goes. Shouldn't be a big deal but I think the shop tech will do a better job than me to fix it. Outside of that I've got a lawn to mow, some landscaping to do and hopefully I'll get the bike back for a ride this evening. Have a great day folks.

Awake, coffee dripping in the trailer. I was super tired and went to bed last night at nine, slept until two when one of the smoke detectors decided it needed a new battery and started chirping. Took awhile to figure out which one, but pulled the battery and went back to bed. Oh, the joys of camping. It’s amazingly cool at the coast, compared to the valley. It was 95 at home yesterday and it’s in the 50s here . We met up with a couple from Vashon Island that we’ve tracked with before, had a glass of wine and a few laughs, and are off to Coos bay this afternoon.

Good morning from Brooklyn.
I'm still adjusting to being a pensioner. It is quite different. The reality of not having to get on the subway every morning and drag my sorry butt into the seediest part of Midtown West to cook under fluorescent lighting for nine hours a day continues to be delightful. I hated working for that company. Management inflicted draconian policies and based its model on the early days of the Industrial Age. But that's Manischewitz under the bridge now. I have been taking the summer vacation off until it's time to dig into my father's photo archive this autumn and set the gears in motion to add to the stock agency portfolio he left me (increasing the chance of sales) and divest as much as possible to historic collections that isn't already in the Library of Congress.
But I am delighted to be spending quality time with my daughter—cooking, baking, watching films, having conversations about culture and life in general. She has a brilliant mind and is always surprising me with the breadth of her knowledge on myriad topics. For this teenager, the Internet isn't only about TikToc. I find so many things that need doing every day, always hoping to fill my time constructively but also savoring the moments I can just stare out at the trees.
The remains of the tropical storm the NOAA has named Debby is headed for us later this afternoon. Forecasters say we should expect high winds, 1 to 2 inches of rain between the pm and tomorrow morning, and the possibility of tornadoes in Northern New Jersey and parts of New York. Batten down the hatches! I just don't want the tall tree across the road to fall and take out our balcony.
Not much planned for the day—a trip down the street to the library, a quick stop at the grocer's, reading more of the last interview ever given by John Lennon and Yoko Ono that was originally published in Playboy magazine. Fifty-something pages into it, I find it quite interesting to hear what Lennon's perspective was, what his life was like, and the changes he experienced in the 1970s. I get it now.

Last night's choir season kick-off turned into a picnic. About 4:00 PM a severe thunderstorm swept through. I wasn't sure until the last minute at 5:30 that I was even going to go. Some flooded streets near us, but not too bad. Got to the church and the power was out there. So we moved tables and chairs outside under the patio cover and had our potluck there. But we didn't get to hear the new music. And we didn't get the sheet music because it was in a room with no windows, so no light. Got the schedule and a few announcements. Had a good time and got home safely. Drove right by Fry's and could have stopped in to pick up my prescription, which is now ready. But it was dark by then and too many homeless people hang around there, so I saved that for daylight today.
Not much else on the agenda, except my new watch should get delivered today. I've had at least 4 watches with resin bands that broke. On the latest one, the resin watch case crumbled after only one year. Yeah, it's a dry heat, but that shouldn't happen. The new watch has a metal band and is an atomic watch. A bit large for my small wrist, but otherwise I should be happy with it.
Mr. H reported last night that our two favorite radio stations were off the air. This morning one is still MIA, but the other is back. Still some power outages. I don't know about the church, but will check later. Also downed power poles on a major street near us.

You've gotten a lot more monsoon weather than we have, Hobson.

Good morning
55F-70F sunny.
Little to do today except some shop time a pick up a med. Going to make a doc appointment and have them check my ears just to be sure my balance problems are not due to that.
Leaving for Key West in less than two weeks and in August & September that place can be a crap shoot for hurricanes. Fingers crossed.

58 degrees on this beautiful morning. I drove up to the cabin/lake this morning, 50 miles of corn and soybeans, and boy do they look nice, best I've seen in several years.
Family will arrive this afternoon and evening for what should be a fun weekend. I do have a little mowing to do before they arrive.

A perfect summer day with a perfect weekend predicted.
Tweaking instruments before the old-time jam this evening. We seem to be settling in to an every other Friday routine. There is another guitarist coming, probably better versed in the old-time idiom than me, so I had best up my game on banjo. Clawhammer banjo seems pretty easy whilst sitting at home plunking out tunes, seems everything falls apart when I find myself sitting opposite a fiddler.

Worked a half-shift this morning, will be getting a melanoma checkup this afternoon.
AZ folks, I see the Harris/Walz juggernaut is headed to Glendale this evening, and arena capacity has already been reached in a place that holds 19,500, though it was not made clear if all those seats were actually available.
Looks to be a string of perfect weather days for a while.

The fan is gently blowing on me and keeping me at a comfortable temp this afternoon. A little bit of work earlier had me sweated up like an un-wrung towel.
I listed my 4Runner and motorcycle trailer on Craigslist and Facebook Market Place. Now I will field calls and texts. Though I enjoy meeting potential buyers and dickering, I really want the SUV and trailer gone.

Back from the derm doc, who revisited a biopsy taken two months ago, as the pathology had come back "a little funky," she said, not showing cancer, per se, but worthy of investigating further with a deeper sample. So she took what she called a "plug" out of the spot in my upper forehead, and now I have a really attractive compression bandage that all the ladies were swooning over when I repaired to Stout's Pub afterward for walleye 'n' chips.
Sutures will melt away in a week or two, and I should have path results before then.
She didn't seem too concerned about the situation, but more like she was applying "an abundance of caution," as the current buzz term goes.

Good luck Bill. I took a trailer full to the dump today.
It’s so cathartic.
