Good morning. Well see 85-104 with a small chance of showers.
I was going to give a friend a ride to and from a surgical procedure today. That got cancelled. So I'll attend my Zoom breakfast, then go downtown to the city's planning and development office again. I hope to get more guidance as to what they want me to do about the two code violations they found.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning. It's raining in Spring Hill. Supposed to clear up and then return this afternoon. Not a good day for yard work. I've got an appointment with the ENT doctor later this morning to be followed by some shopping. Guitars, workout and evening bike ride await.
Have a great day!

Greetings from Brooklyn. Sunny and 61° right now, low humidity. Another nice day coming up, with a high of about 77°.
My girls are planning to take the subway out to Fresh Meadows and the Arthur Ashe tennis stadium to watch some practice sessions in advance of the US Open. They are tennis buffs. I am not. My plan is to take a shopping cart down the street to the storage space in which the remains of my father's archive is stored, retrieve as many of the framed photos as I can schlep home, and assess what can be auctioned off. Then I will, at some point soon, contact the main auction houses here to find out who's interested. It's time to dig into this project, which will, no doubt, take a couple of years to accomplish. This includes scanning and uploading negatives and slides to the Getty Images account the old man left me. Also down the road: getting the photographs of 5 US Presidents (from Johnson to Reagan) to their Presidential libraries. Fun, fun, fun!
Missing Cape Cod this morning and hoping to get back there soon.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

A glorious summer day. We remain a one car family for at least another week. Dawn is out and about for work calls and I am hanging out with a slightly bored 12 year old. Four days until school starts.

Cool & clear, just like me. Hot weather is due back this weekend but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy today. Did this puzzle the other day. Very difficult.

Back from an abbreviated bike ride, 20 miles instead of 26. There are some trail closures today for maintenance.
Great weather for last night's gig, it was pretty cool when we finished. 57 degrees this morning but the heat will be back for the weekend and next week.
Better get the lawn mowed this afternoon.

Just got back with about 1/2 the framed photos that are in storage down the road. I am envisioning a big, involved project going forward.
Here's a photo to give you some idea of what I just saw in the storage locker. The framed photos are bubble-wrapped. Half of them are here at home with me now. The rest are boxes containing color chromes and 1,600 9x12" envelopes of b&w negatives, contact sheets, prints.
Give me strength.

Give me strength. It's too bad neither kid wants to help you tackle this, Howard. Not only could they see pictures of famous and not-so-famous people, hardly any of which they will know the identity (OK, maybe that's not a plus)... but they could maybe get a sense of where your dad fit into the world-at-large, and maybe understand (a little more) a man they might not have known very well.

In fact, my son has offered to assist me when I start digging in. Her Grace will be home for another year before college, so she may get to see some of it by proximity. Some of his subjects might be so obscure as to not be worth preserving. Or maybe more so for their rarity. After we beef up the Getty portfolio I intend to get these into as many historical libraries and collections as I can. I am not sure I can do all this and simultaneously write the novel that has been percolating for decades, another motivator to get rid of as much of it as possible.

Off to Chicago in a little while. Stopping by a photography store to pick up some film on the way. Tonight there is a little get-together sponsored by JHS pedals where I'll get to hear some pedal guys actually play guitar. Tomorrow the Fretboard Summit begins. Saturday morning I just might have a decent-sized hole in my schedule so I can ogle guitars with Marshall.
Of note to some jazz-ish minded forumites, both Joel Paterson and Jonathan Stout will be performing, and Jonathan will also be doing a class. I intend on attending solely so I can have no idea how to put his concepts into practice.

Our street was just resurfaced with some odd, semi hard asphalt. Safe to drive on after just a few hours. You can push on it with your fingers and it gives a little. I think it is called "slurry sealing."
A few court filings to create today and some bookkeeping, then I will investigate an odd note on my credit report - indicating that I have a "deferred student loan." I think I was done repaying student loans by 1994.

After two weeks of intestinal unpleasantness (nothing dire, just inconvenient and annoying and tethered-to-the-bathroom stuff) I'm going to try to resume my usual Thursday playing-out marathon: acoustic afternoon with Brother John at the deli and evening sitting-in with the jazz guys at the Veranda Lounge. Now playing in the background: last week's Frank Vignola's Guitar Night from Birdland with Vinnie Raniolo as guest picker. Highly recommended. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO2CTBxDcFA

I'm so glad to hear/read this! Dad and stepmom are getting ready to move to a smaller place after 30 years. There are some boxes of memories/memorabilia of dad's that haven't been unsealed since they were moved in. I told dad to not even bother to open them, just send them to my brother's house (he lives nearby) and my brother and I will go through and sort out the memories. Unfortunately, my brother is more sentimental than even I am, so there might not be a lot headed to recycling.

Good morning... I've got an appointment with the ENT doctor later this morning to be followed by some shopping. Is there something about that old tree of yours you haven't been telling us? Maybe there is a cure! Fingers crossed!

I'm in Chicago, the night before Fretboard Summit. They're was an event tonight and I had a good time.
I got back to my hotel, and the Colbert Show is taping across the street. So now I'm in the audience.
Fun trip so far. MAVIS STAPLES is the musical guest (with Jeff Tweedy). AOC will be on.

Our table won the trivia contest at Copper Trail Brewing Company in Alex tonight. Two questions we missed, “who said I don’t do drugs I am drugs”, and “Anyone that brags about their IQ is an idiot” Anyone know?

He said that people who boast about their IQ are losers.
