Good morning. It looks like we'll have about 80-102. Summer will be with us for a while but it's beginning to wane.
Last night we met a lab we'll probably adopt. His foster keeper brought him over and we spent about an hour and a half with them. His previous owners decided to downsize and no longer had room for all three of their dogs. They turned this one in to a shelter. The dog wasn't mistreated the way our last lab had been and he doesn't seem to have any emotional baggage.
My wife has "choir boot camp" today, an annual all-day event where the church choir gets basic training. The music director assesses all the voices, decides who will sit where and all that.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning. Looks like a nice weather day here. That's great because tonight is Bat Night at the Chinsegut Nature Preserve. They've put together a program an we'll get to see them as they head out from the bat houses that the Preserve has set up. Today will be yard work and a bike ride.
Have good ones.

Cool morning, 15 minutes till I head to Vinton to set up for our Boom Town gig. We'll be playing from 10:00 to 1:00, under a large awning which will keep us out of the sun and ahead of the heat.
Fireworks, really BIG fireworks tonight.

Howdy, folks. Sunny and moderately humid, a high of 84Β° predicted.
Yesterday I went through the last of the bundles of framed photos of my father's. This coming week, I'll contact the main auction houses here to see if they have any interest in putting these up for auction. I did, however, keep and hang one of the photos, of a window in a house in Wellfleet, MA, where we spent many summers when I was a kid. It was just a quick cell phone shot, so please forgive the reflection of my arms and phone in the glass, but you get the idea.
The colors have faded some, giving it a vintage feel, even though this print is only about 25 years old. I have many fond memories of this house and the summer months we spent there.
Later, off to the pharmacy, return the last couple of photos to the storage space. Her Grace is watching the F1 qualifying right now, and will be going to her friend's house upstate when that friend and her parents come to pick her up later this afternoon. Wife and dog are in the park. Tomorrow, my best pal, whom I have known since I was a high-school sophomore, will be coming by to plug in our guitars and rock out.
I hope you're having a pleasant Saturday.

Fireworks, really BIG fireworks tonight. When all of Vinton's pet owners pack up their critters and head off to Cedar Rapids for a while.

"What color? Yellow, Black, Brown?"
Basic black.
"Did you give him a blood sample to see if he could analyze it?"
No. We gave him a dog treat and he ate it.

Still fighting the crud I had, still a little gravel in my voice I hope will be gone soon.
Watched the F1 qualifying and now put to mow before it gets too hot.

Historian Greg Jenner posted an amusing snippet from Jim Carrey's Wikipedia page to Threads.
"In April 2022, Carrey announced that he was considering retirement from the film industry, explaining, "I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough." When asked if he would ever come back, his response was, "It depends. If the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break."[115] In February 2024, it was announced that Carrey would reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3."[116]

Joe--My voice went from its usual midwestern high-baritone to a whisper for several days, which made singing, um, interesting on Thursday. This corresponded to a stretch of Canadian smoke heavy enough to look like ground haze at one point. And my new picking partner, Brother John, pointed out that harvest time in the Dakotas also kicks up lots of dust.

Fireworks, really BIG fireworks tonight. When all of Vinton's pet owners pack up their critters and head off to Cedar Rapids for a while. Might hear it in Cedar Rapids too. If I remember correctly, they shoot some rounds that are 14-16 inches. They launch them from a field 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the grandstand. I won't be going tonight, too many people and I'm pooped, we played 3 hr and 20 minutes today.

A lazy day here. Fall like weather, a high of about 70f. Time yet for dinner, some guitar playing, and a evening dog walk.
I am trying to find a way to obtain all my clients' names and addresses, and put them on letters to let them know that I am retiring, plus getting the envelopes prepped. I didn't realize that I had written about 500 wills over my career. So I need to write to the survivors of those folks plus my business and real estate clients. Daunting.
