Good morning. Today I need to make an appointment to get the Mazda serviced. I also need to make an appointment to meet my likely new primary-care physician. The old one retired. I'll also keep trying to solve my problem with the city over two code violations. Two different departments are telling me two different things. Who says retirement isn't eventful?
Our new Lab is settling in. He's a little bewildered but he isn't stressed. He arrived with the name "Rookie." Although that wouldn't be my choice we were encouraged to stick with the existing name.
Enjoy your day.

"Rookie." Strange name for a new doctor.

"Rookie." Strange name for a new doctor. I don't think that's the name of his new PCP. It's apparently the name of the lab where he gets any needed tests run.

Taught men's Bible study at 6am. Breakfast consisted of 2 ice cream sandwiches and a donut. Yum

The backyard thermometer reads 74. Coolest morning in many a moon.

Hi, folks.
Currently 72° in Brooklyn, t-storms predicted for this afternoon. Happy that I don't need to be anywhere today and can just attend to things around home. Finished my morning coffee and thinking about some breakfast.
This will be my last week or two of staying in bed until 8:00 am. Once school starts, it will be up at the crack of dawn to get Her Grace fed and on her way. Hard to believe my little peanut is 17 and heading into her senior year of high school, with a well-established sense of style and a plan for her future. I am so curious to see how it will unfold in reality.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Seeking pity this morning.
A couple weeks ago when Phil and I agreed to provide music for today's outdoor fund raising for the Mercantile sidewalk, the temps were in the high 70s.
Today is the day, high temp predicted to be 96! Set up starts at 3:30, we play from 5 - 7, so it might be a couple degrees cooler.
Steve Schott has volunteered to join us in the heat this evening. (my God, what was he thinking).
Full report tomorrow, if we survive!

We survived KT’s shower but we bought way too much food. Still, a nice time was had by all. The kid has nice friends going back to High school, and it was good interesting to see them as young adults. Today we will head over to KT’s house for dinner, bringing some of the food that didn’t get eaten yesterday. Costco turkey roll ups, charcuterie tray, fresh fruit etc. That will clear out some space in the fridge and provide them with a free meal. That and a doctor appointment with my primary will round out the day.

82° and heading up to 95°. Excessive heat warnings for the area. Good day to hunker down & avoid going out but we have a wake this afternoon & funeral tomorrow so we will be out in it at some point. I have a few errands to run so I will fill my pockets with ice cubes before going out.

Good morning. Off to a slow start today. Went to Walmart, that might be the sum total of my days ambition. We'll see. I keep resolving to take a day to rest up and I keep on breaking that resolution and doing the workout, landscaping project and bike ride every day as well as all my other activities. I'm getting tired. Looks like a rainy day ahead so that should help me take the day off.
Have good ones.

We hosted a nice birthday celebration for my wife yesterday with sons, DIL and grandson and take-out food from Raul's Mexican restaurant. I had forgotten how loudly a baby could cry. But that lasted only a little while.
It appears that our fall-like weather will disappear this week and return to summer. Too bad, I most love 65 to 70 f.

Did the baby not like the food from Raul's Mexican?

Current humidity in Brooklyn: 82%.
We had a hard-driving sun shower about 45 minutes ago. It did cool things down to about 76°, though.

Dew point is a much better measure of mugginess than relative humidity. Brooklyn's DP is currently 63 degrees, not really uncomfy at all. MSP, meanwhile, was 75 when I last checked.

And now, a thunderstorm, so I have the A/C cranked in case there's a power loss.

And now, a thunderstorm, so I have the A/C cranked in case there's a power loss. If the power goes out, it's not gonna matter where your A/C's set. It needs power to run. (Just kidding, of course. I know why you're doing that.)

Hot on the route, but at least the office isn't air conditioned, so we don't get comfortable in the morning, only to go out and face the extreme heat. Like the fabled frogs in the sauce pan, we're eased into the day. Drink a gallon of water and don't pee all day.
