Good morning, folks. This morning I'll attend my Zoom social breakfast and then buy groceries. This afternoon my wife and I will visit our daughter and grandson. Then I'll make dinner. Boredom won't be a problem.
Lately I've been reminded of the penalty for making a political donation. You get bombarded with emails asking for more money.
All's well here. Enjoy your day.

Ok, I pick this one as the daily.
The other daily seems to be floundering. It’s a perfectly fine daily and I recommend you visit it.

We're going to see "Reagan" in the theater today. We saw Dennis Quaid (playing Reagan) interviewed on the Huckabee show and we saw the trailer for the movie. I was impressed with both. The horse Dennis was riding in the trailer was very nice to see too.
Have a great day, everyone.

No kidding on the political contributions. I did not donate to a party, but an organization that is definitely left-leaning. I am not left-leaning, but support this particular issue. After a year of getting almost daily emails and a lot of mailings, I remember why I stopped donating to them years ago.
Mr. H managed to get an appointment for today for a CT scan to figure out what's up with his constant sinus infection. So I'll be taking him to that. Then I have choir practice this evening.
We didn't bring home a lot of leftovers from last night's dinner at an Indian restaurant. Because they were out of papadum. We still had plenty to eat and I'm thinking we'll have a chef salad tonight to make up for that heavy meal.

I watched a couple episodes of "Dark Wind" last night - on Netflix. A good show so far.
I need to assemble a crew to stuff about 500 envelopes in the next few days, but for today it is dealing with some court pleadings, then heading to Lincoln City where I will do more fence painting, then eat too much.

Cloudy, cooler outdoors but muggy stale air persists indoors.
Back from the gym, where I had been absent for the past week. Music was a mix of folky stuff recorded by Jerry Garcia and David Grisman in the early 1990s. I had forgotten about this.
Taking the Honda van to the shop this afternoon for an oil change and general appraisal on whether it is fit to drive to Iowa next week. I'll spend an hour at the bookstore next door. If it only needs an oil change, I'll drive it home. If it needs more serious stuff they will keep it through tomorrow and I will ride a bike home.

I watched a couple episodes of "Dark Wind" last night - on Netflix. A good show so far. We are watching "Dark Wind" in the evening as well. I very much enjoyed the lead character's performance in the "Longmire" series. I am enjoying his character and performance just as much in this series. The scenery in the show is stunning and I am always a sucker for a show that has horses in it.

We finished season one of Dark Winds last night and really enjoyed it. I've read a number of the Tony Hillerman books upon which it is based.

Hello.
Have accomplished a couple of clerical things, got some breakfast into Her Grace (who is now watching "Peaky Blinders" for the fourth time), and will be showing off our kitchen renovation to a new shareholder in the building as a favor to our contractor. This is supposed to occur in the next 20 minutes. I am generally uncomfortable admitting people I don't know into our home, but I know where this person lives. : )
Then I need to go down into the basement storage space and find a couple of additoinal framed photos of my father's that i know are there. One is a portrait of David Ben-Gurion, the first PM of Israel (autographed by the PM himself) and I think there is a framed 11x14 of Woody Allen. They're in a box hidden deep behind all my wife's junk. I also need to locate a sleeping bag to lend my son for the weekend. I hope it doesn't take hours.
Tamarack reminded me of this song in another thread. It's a good'un so I thought I'd post Leo Kottke performing this Tom T. Hall song:
Off to organize and putter. Onward and upward!

Good morning.
83F-86F windy.
Back from a week in the Conch Republic aka Key West. We had a wonderful time, ate a LOT of really good food and did more walking than I've done in years. Our breakfast spot was the Banana Cafe just a block from our Inn. They do crepes and other dishes and my fave was a big bowl of fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, simple and wonderful. The girls pretty much shopped themselves out and our bank account will prove it. I too did some shopping, *can't help it that's one of the things one does there, and now I have a nice collection of semi-loud shirts for our Kauai trip in 3 weeks. Riley has hardly left my side since we got home and Simon has been switching between us, happy kitties now.
Coming home was a nightmare as we left Key West at noon on Wednesday and walked in our front door 2am Thursday. Lots of weather delays in Florida and we got diverted from DC to Charlotte, laid over in Charlotte for 5 hours to get a flight, delayed again due to maintenance problems on our MPS/STP plane. Got in MPS/STP about 1 then had to find the shuttle to the parking ramp we rented, cheaper and safer than airport parking. It was a very tired and worn out drive home.
*Yes we bought a refrigerator magnet or two. Probably the most useful money we spent.
One thing I noticed from our last trip to Key West was a complete lack of buskers on Duval street. Bar performers were still working but not the buskers.

Air travel has become a nightmare. My son took two trips with JetBlue over the summer and there were nothing but delays and cancelled flights. Kind of makes me want to stick to road trips or train travel. Yes, I get cranky.

Good afternoon. The daily I started first got shuffled off to wherever, so I'll jump on this one. Went out with my Audubon friends this morning but I had to leave the birding early as the tree removal folks showed up early. Claire called and asked me to come home so that was that. I did get some pictures and will post them in the photography section. We saw a rare bird for this area, a Western Sandpiper which as its name implies is a west coast bird. Must of got confused during migration. At least it's the west coast of Florida........ Enjoy the rest of your day.

We're also starting Dark Winds. It seems to have a better start than season one did.
