I did that once. I was in for something many years ago and the doctor came in and said you can go home today. I got dressed, grabbed my stuff and went home. A few hours later the phone rang and it was the hospital saying I couldn’t just leave. I had to be discharged. I said, well, discharge me then because I am not coming back. They were not happy with me but I got my discharge papers in the mail a few days later. The doctor said I could go home so I took him at his word. I didn’t know I was supposed to wait! |

When I was a resident in ortho at the county hospital in Mpls the ER called and said “we’ve got an admission for you, multiple fractures, and by the way he just left the hospital against medical advice”
Turned out he went into DTs and jumped out a second story window and landed right in front of the ambulance entrance to the ER.
The ER doc listed him as discharged AMA and readmitted him thinking maybe medical assistance would pay better.
Good news seeing Todd vertical!!
