Hard to believe it was 23 years ago.
Plus six months before was my first date with Vivian. We almost split up because we reacted so differently to the horror show.
But here we are, and we're still on alert as a nation.

We won't forget.
Good morning. We're getting smoke from California's wildfires. A good rain there and here would be welcome.
It's good to have another day.

No, we will never forget.
I first learned of the attack right here on this forum (or was it the predecessor to this forum?).

I was in NYC on 09-09.
I was in Caracas, Venezuela on 09-11. Not the best place to be stuck. Couldn't fly home, so on 09-12 I went to Bogota, a much safer city, a city where I had friends, to lay low and see what would happen next.
By Friday the situation seemed stable, so I moved on to Quito. On Sunday I moved to Guayaquil. And was able to fly home from there on Tuesday, one week after 09-11.

Morning!
I was at the welding shop picking up a part for the plow when it happened. The entire crew was gathered around a tiny 12" TV in disbelief and silence.

I found out because I had just stepped out to run over to the grocery store before heading uptown to work. Old-timers here may remember that I lived in Greenwich Village at the time with a clear view of the Trade Center, and while the hole in the north tower smoldered, I stood in the middle of LaGuardia Place with a hundred other neighbors as we watched the second plane hit the south tower. It was devastating. One hundred people drew breath at the same time and you could hear it.
I went up to my office at 10:00 am. We were all gathered in the lounge area of SI for Kids, watching the news reports. When the towers collapsed, they sent us home. We didn't go back to work until the following Monday or Tuesday. Matt Sarad found my work number and when I was back in the office, I found a concerned voice mail from him on my phone.
What an insane series of events that was.

I was a community college faculty member, teaching Horticulture at the time. We had a centralized TV System for the campus and we turned it on, and watched as the coverage unfolded. I had several students that had just got out of the military, and I spent my time letting them use a phone to call in and report. They were all sure they would be recalled, and in fact several of them were.
The colleges' administration quickly started devising plans for how to deal with students impacted by recall, or those that would be signing up for military duty. I am proud to say, it took less then a day for the college to devise plans, and create a cohesive approach for our student.

I was getting ready to go to work and was watching the morning news. I normally took the bus to downtown Phoenix. Mr. H convinced me to drive there. Being a federal office, we were only there a couple of hours before we got sent home. A coworker had taken the bus, so I drove him home. I had coworkers who were in DC for a conference. It took them days to be able to get home. Since all flights were cancelled, they finally managed to rent a car, dropping someone off in Denver on the way.

Good morning.
61F-86F sunny.
I was at work early as usual. I tried to get a view via web-cams in NY but they had them shut down. Didn't matter as the news services had plenty showing the scene.
We are taking a few chairs to Savers today to make room for her display shelves that will be here in a few days. I'd like to get some shop time in, but we'll see how that plays out.

I was at the office on a normal Tuesday morning when a coworker stuck his head in my office and said "A plane just hit the World Trade Center" followed by a second coworker who said "Two planes hit the World Trade Center!" We spent the next hour staring a TV screen and the rest of the day trying to access the overburdened Yahoo news. Somehow the boss wondered why billable time was down for the week.
Another pleasant September morning, gonna get hot again. Back from coffee with the old guys (and one young guy) at church, thence working on some painting projects.

Well I was enjoyed in Mexico - La Paz - my marriage anniversary - 16 years - it took 12 trips to La Paz to California - 2 buses, 3 planes, walked a mile, 2 trains, drive a car, 3 taxis, and more
Well I'm not husband - I already have two marriages- I'm not getting the third one - I'm still alive - I pinched my skin if I'm still alive
I have a son - 33 year old
It's been all horrible and weird 9/11 2001 - date
But I have a couple people that have birthdays 9/11 So I said "happy birthday to Ron"

I was at a Habitat for Humanity build with a number of other employees of our company, something our company encouraged.
Someone got a call from his wife telling him that a plane had struck one of the towers. We first presumed Cessna or such. Soon the fuller story unfolded.

What a day it was. I was with my cousin Terry H. on the Columbia River fishing for Sturgeon, my first and only trip. We were bringing our boat to the pullout and some other fishermen asked if we had heard the news. We could not quite understand it, or did not want to.
What a senseless loss of human life.
On a happier note, I spent 4 hours with my 1 1/2 year old grandson today. He is now properly associating the words ear, nose and mouth with the real thing, as well as giving me a fist bump when I ask for one. Wordle 1,180 3/6

I was at work in downtown Chicago. We watched online news. Then there was a threat the Sears Tower was going to be targeted and downtown Chicago shut down and everyone headed for the train stations in silence.
