Good morning. Temperatures will be mild by our standards, which is welcome. My only plan is to smoke a chuck roast. Enjoy your day.

Awake again. Just like yesterday. There was a block/driveway party down the street last night. I actually walked to it while carrying a lawn chair. I was asked about my surgery many times. Everyone was aware a certain parts of it which surprised me. I guess I have been a topic of neighborhood concern. It was a nice time. The weather was perfect last night, but it’ll be 90° today.
Have a good one.

Morning. Up early. Heading over to the kids house later to drop off some stuff we no longer need/use. A table saw and a rowing machine, and Nita made some curtains for the coming grand nuggets room. That will take care of the morning, the afternoon is wide open for napping.

Note to Hammond: The people hosting the driveway party last night own 6 Culver’s in NWIN so they provided all the main food items. Lots of Culver’s food and 3 types of frozen custard with 5 types of toppings. You would have enjoyed grazing the food tables.

Good morning.
65F-78F cloudy.
We also dined at Culver's last night before doing a little shopping. I can't find my nail clippers so we went to Target. I think Riley knocked them off my desk into the trash bin. He's been doing that lately to protest being on a diet. I know cats do knock things off tables but he has never been in that habit, until I reduced his food intake. One look at him and you can tell that boy has not missed many meals in his life.
New bridge plate on the LG-2 was glued in last night. Today I will put it all back together and string it up.

Good morning. I've been foolish and overdid my exercise routine and now my back is acting up and the diverticulitis flare up continues. I think it's a bit better but it's hard to differentiate between the gut pain and the back pain. I was supposed to be doing some volunteer work with the audubon folks but I had to cancel.
Enough whining. This is all my fault due to not eating properly and overdoing the exercises.
Life goes on, have a great day. 😬

Beautiful morning, I'll be working in my barn, trying to get rid of treasures that I've collected (junk), to make room for better stuff.
This afternoon I want to drive the new car arand see what surprises it has for me. Yesterday, 2 lane county blacktop, I was driving with the dynamic cruise and all safety features enabled. Cruis was set at 57, when I came to some S curves with 45 mph speed signs. I know the road, curves easily taken at 60 mph, so left the cruise on.
As a started the turn, the car started slowing down, got down to about 46 mph, then accelerated back up to 57 as I exited the curve.
Toyota Curve Speed Reduction Systems at work. Manufacturers are training us, and their vehicles, for a self driving future.

Never been to a Culver's, but brother-in-law is at the initial 2 week franchisee training session. Their franchise process seems bullet proof ... 2 failures out of nearly 1000 franchises. Subaru adaptive cruise control has an unnerving tendency to gun it on uphill curves.
Good morning, aspen starting to turn at high elevations.

Pleasant morning, hot afternoon predicted. Saturday errands and yard work await.
Self-driving features are indeed a brave new world. Our 2021 Chevy Traverse has its ways of correcting us.

Man, would I hate this!
Did it read the speed signs or just react to the bend degree of the curves?

Man, would I hate this! Did it read the speed signs or just react to the bend degree of the curves? I think the cars GPS knows the speed limits on the roads. On both our truck and the new Rav 4 when the maps are on the display, the speed limit is constantly displayed and updated as you drive along. What I dislike is the lane keeping feature which tries to nudge you if it determines you are drifting out of your lane. Nita likes it but I hate it. Mike

I don't know how a Prius is programmed but our Traverse knows the speed limit of about every stretch of road, and flashes it up next to the speedometer.

Twice as I drove to Trader Joe's this morning, I swerved over the centerline to avoid squirrels. What would lane-keeping do then?

Mike billhammond, Cosmic Wonder, and kbcolorado, I think it reads the road. It knows the speed limit, but from my experience (2023 Toyota), where I notice it is when the curve is highly visible - barriers on the side of the road, for example. The "lane keeper" function on Toyotas is awful - a tendency to overcorrect, send me into oncoming traffic or off the side of the road if there are no lines there. My 2017 Cadillac did an admirable job, and I left that function on most of the time. billhammond, it depends on the size of the squirrel. The ones around here would be flat.

billhammond, just think of all the meals you could have gotten from the leftovers! Well, true, but the best thing about Culver's is that each item is cooked to order, so I rarely reheat anything at home, other than soups. I order small and eat everything in one sitting.

I don't think so, judging from our last trip to Ohio, when we spent a tedious hour in construction traffic in downtown Columbus.
