Good morning.
My old college roomie turns 70 today, wherever he is. 🎂
Rain will finally be arriving today. Her Grace has a cold, but intends to take a four-hour class after school to qualify her to be a poll worker in the upcoming election. I'll have to take a 30-minute walk this evening to fetch her and walk her home—there is no public transit direct from home to the location. I hope they assign her to the local polling place near home on Election Day.
ON EDIT: She woke up with a bad cold. Will be rescheduling this class.
Otherwise, hoping for a lazy day.
That's all I've got right now. Have a pleasant day. Southern forumites, stay safe!

Good morning. Like Howard, I hope those of you in the storm's path stay safe. The map suggests that Ken and Shannon will get some of it.
It will mostly be my usual Thursday: Zoom social breakfast, grocery shopping. I'll be making a crock-pot dinner for the first time in years. Need to remember to get it started later this morning.
Enjoy your day.

50° here. Fall. We may see some rain in a few days due to Helene but it’s iffy. Today is pumpkin and mum purchasing day. And Candy Korn.

Good morning. We're hunkering down for a day of storms. We'll probably be getting tropical storm winds. The coastal area west of US 19 is probably going to get a bad tidal surge. We'll see how it all plays out.
Have a great day.

I stepped into the kitchen to refill my coffee cup this morning, walked back into the family room and glanced out the back door. This deer was standing there. As i watched it came closer, eventually getting to within 3-4 feet of the door. pictures aren't great through two panes of dirty glass, but you get the idea. It was eating grass, and weeds, and eventually just walked away, towards the neighbor's house.

Morning! Pumped for band today. I have a 12 measure trombone solo on our arrangement of "The Bare Necessities". First concert is Oct. 24th if you up this way. I come in after the tuba solo. (this isn't us, but it is close to our standards )

Trains. Trains are cool. I have a little model railroad that I set up at Christmas every year. And who doesn’t like to hear that lonsme whistle off in the distance? However, when one is camped less than 100 yards from the track that has approximately 4700 trains running all night long, it is less than optional. And these are long, loud trains. I blame you guys for buying so much crap that has to be shipped everywhere. Just stop it! 😡
Other than that, we had a pleasent evening in the trailer.

In the summer when the windows are open all night, the trains rolling are clearly audible all the way across town. And I realize that I've lived within earshot of active tracks since 1966. (And six blocks from the Mississippi since 1977. Access to half the continent within walking distance.)

Most of my time on the Mississippi has been between Bemidji and Cass Lake though I’ve stepped across it at Itasca a few times.
